Olá pessoal! Acabei de ver um vídeo intitulado "12 Taboos in Brazil and Weird Things That Shocked the Whole World !". É impressionante como o titulo era verdadeiro, sou brasileiro e fiquei chocado com o vídeo! Um antro de desinformação, mentiras e exageros.

Claro que entre as 12 coisas existia algumas coisas que são verdades, outras que são verdades e estão fora de contexto para parecer pior do que realmente é! Pensando nisso decidi fazer esse post dando destaque aos 12 taboos falados e falando um pouco sobre eles do quanto de verdade tem cada um deles da visão de alguém que realmente conhece o Brasil.

Então vamos ao que interessa...

Vou falar nesse post de 4 das 12 e pretendo voltar pra falar das outras, vou dividir pra leitura não ficar muito maçante e poder interagir e falar de 1 a 1 para informar as pessoas da forma correta e do que realmente acontece.

12 - É proibido usar o símbolo de ok

Essa chega a ser ridículo, cheia de teorias da conspiração envolvendo um símbolo. Bom essa começou já me surpreendendo porque eu já tinha ouvido falar de uma amiga minha que é alemã exatamente o quanto ela acha bizarro a naturalidade que usamos alguns símbolos considerados "vulgar" na Alemanha, mas aqui usamos com naturalidade em publico. A única verdade dessa é que o símbolo não é comumente usado assim por aqui mas ta longe de ser proibido. A parte ridiculamente falsa do White Power então prefiro nem comentar...

11 - É proibido ir para Ilha das cobras

Nunca ouvi falar em uma ilha chamada Snake Island no Brasil, pesquisei um pouco e encontrei uma ilha com esse nome na Índia. Então vou supor que ele está falando da Ilha da Queimada Grande que é uma ilha próxima do litoral de São Paulo com o segundo maior contingente de cobras por metro quadrado do mundo, com uma estimativa de ter mais de 15mil cobras na ilha.

Se for essa a ilha existe lá um farol da marinha, mas ninguém mora nela a 1secúlo desde que o farol foi automatizado. Não é proibido ir na ilha, só não é comum porque por motivos óbvios não é um ponto turístico, nem faz sentido irem a uma ilha sem acesso a civilização.

O Brasil tem centenas, talvez milhares, de ilhas inabitadas. Algumas tem sua fauna e flora preservada, outras são simplesmente intocadas pela dificuldade de chegar e pelos perigos naturais. Não existe motivo para proibir, mas também não existe motivos para visitar.

10 - É proibido mostrar desconforto com comida

Não tem muito o que dizer além de que não é verdade. As comidas mostradas inclusive são comidas regionais que causam muito desconforto inclusive pra alguns Brasileiros. Eu amo Acarajé e Mocotó, já minha esposa não come e nem gosta de ver Mocotó sendo feito. Afirmação totalmente sem sentido.

Inclusive de vez em quando aparece um vegano demonstrando desconforto com tudo e querendo obrigar quem não é vegano a mudar hábitos alimentares. Isso deveria ser proibido, rs , mas também não é...

9 - É proibido esbanjar sua riqueza

Não sei muito por onde começar com essa, talvez mostrando os funkeiros paulistas que andam adornado em ouro? Ou os playboys da zona sul andando com mais de 20mil entre acessórios e roupas. Ou as madames que andam com bolsa da Louis Vuitton que nem sei o preço.

Claro que existem lugares perigosos que não é aconselhável você ficar ostentando. Mas isso você pode conversar com pessoas de qualquer pais e vão te dizer que tem bairros que não é legal você ir com acessórios de milhares de dólares ou andar com quantias altas de dinheiro.

Pessoalmente eu acho uma grande idiotice querer esbanjar dinheiro. Eu quero viver bem com meu dinheiro e ter segurança pra mim e pra minha família, então tento dentro da minha realidade financeira, andar por locais mais seguros e morar em locais onde eu posso andar tranquilamente com meu celular na mão por exemplo. E mesmo tendo crescido em locais pobres e ter visto parte dessa violência falada, sei que ela não é a realidade da maioria do país e não é minha realidade hoje por exemplo.

8 - Não entre nas favelas

Bom esse titulo eu totalmente concordo. As comunidades mais pobres que chamamos de favelas não são locais pra turismo. São em geral locais pobres e comumente dominado por facções criminosas. A policia muitas vezes faz missões nas favelas e realmente tratam moradores de forma muito desrespeitosa. Essa é a mais próxima de ser realidade, embora esteja sendo exagerada é uma parte triste e que dificilmente vai mudar no futuro próximo porque os criminosos tem muito poder, muitas vezes apoiados por facções corruptas da policia e políticos corruptos.

Embora isso seja mais comum na região sudeste(Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Minas Gerais e Espirito Santo), é algo que ocorre em boa parte do Brasil. Isso é uma parte feia do nosso Brasil, mas não é tudo que tem por aqui...

Ainda assim algumas favelas viraram pontos turísticos, não sei o que de tão interessante os turistas vem na desigualdade, mas ao menos leva renda para esses locais. Até mesmo artistas famosos mundialmente como Michael Jackson já visitaram e até gravaram em favelas.

Conclusão

Vale lembrar que o Brasil é um pais de proporções continentais e claro que tem uma cultura diversa dentro do próprio território, tem locais perigosos principalmente por ser um país com grande índice de desigualdade social. Mas esse vídeo não só é falso e preconceituoso como é uma ofensa.

Pretendo continuar falando sobre esse assunto em próximos posts pra desmistificar o preconceito.

Hi guys! I just saw a video entitled "12 Taboos in Brazil and Weird Things That Shocked the Whole World !". It's amazing how true the title was, I'm Brazilian and I was shocked by the video! A den of misinformation, lies and exaggerations.

Of course, among the 12 things there were some things that are true, others that are true but are taken out of context to make it seem worse than it really is! With this in mind, I decided to write this post highlighting the 12 taboos and talking a little about how much truth there is in each of them from the point of view of someone who really knows Brazil.

So let's get down to business...

Truth or lie?

I'm going to talk about 4 of the 12 in this post and I intend to come back to talk about the others. I'm going to divide them up so that reading doesn't get too boring and so that I can interact and talk about them one by one to inform people correctly and about what really happens.

12 - It is forbidden to use the ok symbol

This one is ridiculous, full of conspiracy theories involving a symbol. Well, this one started by surprising me because I had already heard from a friend of mine who is German exactly how bizarre she finds the naturalness with which we use some symbols that are considered "vulgar" in Germany, but here we use them naturally in public. The only truth of the matter is that the symbol isn't commonly used here, but it's far from forbidden. The ridiculously false White Power part I'd rather not even comment on...

11 - It's forbidden to go to Snake Island

I've never heard of an island called Snake Island in Brazil, I did a bit of research and found an island with that name in India. So I'm going to assume that he's talking about Queimada Grande Island, which is an island off the coast of São Paulo with the second largest number of snakes per square meter in the world, with an estimate of more than 15,000 snakes on the island.

If this is the island, there is a navy lighthouse there, but no one has lived there for a century since the lighthouse was automated. It's not forbidden to go to the island, it's just not common because for obvious reasons it's not a tourist spot, nor does it make sense to go to an island with no access to civilization.

Brazil has hundreds, perhaps thousands, of uninhabited islands. Some have their fauna and flora preserved, others are simply untouched due to the difficulty of getting there and the natural dangers. There is no reason to ban them, but there is no reason to visit them either.

10 - It is forbidden to show discomfort with food

There's not much to say other than that it's not true. The foods shown are even regional foods that cause a lot of discomfort even for some Brazilians. I love Acarajé and Mocotó, but my wife doesn't eat them and doesn't like to see Mocotó being made. A totally nonsensical statement.

Every now and then a vegan comes along and shows his discomfort with everything and wants to force non-vegans to change their eating habits. This should be forbidden, lol, but it isn't either...

9 - It's forbidden to squander your wealth

I don't really know where to start with this one, perhaps showing the funkeiros from São Paulo who are adorned in gold? Or the playboys from the south walking around with more than 20 thousand in accessories and clothes. Or the madams who carry Louis Vuitton handbags that I don't even know the price of.

Of course, there are dangerous places where it's not advisable to show off. But you can talk to people from any country and they'll tell you that there are neighborhoods where it's not cool to go with thousands of dollars' worth of accessories or carry large amounts of cash.

Personally, I think it's silly to want to splash the cash. I want to live well with my money and have security for myself and my family, so I try, within my financial reality, to go to safer places and live in places where I can walk around with my cell phone in my hand, for example. And even though I grew up in poor areas and have seen some of this violence, I know that it is not the reality of the majority of the country and it is not my reality today, for example.

8 - Don't go into the favelas

Well, I totally agree with that title. The poorest communities that we call favelas are not places for tourism. They are generally poor places and often dominated by criminal factions. The police often go on missions in the favelas and really treat the residents in a very disrespectful way. This is the closest thing to reality, although it's being exaggerated, it's a sad part and one that is unlikely to change in the near future because the criminals have too much power, often supported by corrupt police factions and corrupt politicians.

Although this is more common in the southeast (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo), it is something that occurs in much of Brazil.

This is an ugly part of Brazil, but it's not all there is here...

Even so, some favelas have become tourist attractions. I don't know what's so interesting about the inequality tourists see, but at least it brings income to these places. Even world-famous artists like Michael Jackson have visited and even recorded in favelas.

Conclusion

It's worth remembering that Brazil is a country of continental proportions and, of course, it has a diverse culture within its own territory, there are dangerous places, mainly because it's a country with a high level of social inequality. But this video is not only false and prejudiced, it is also offensive.

I intend to continue talking about this subject in future posts to demystify prejudice.
