Hello everyone!

Today I want to talk about one of my favorite low mana monsters, Halfling Alchemist.

It is a Promo Card from Untamed Set and as I said, it has a really low mana cost(only 2). Its main function is the Halving ability, which reduce by a half the attack of the monster hitted by it. If the value is odd, then the attack is reduced to the low number, in other words, if the attack is 5, will go to 2.

That makes it extremely useful in a lot of rulesets, and that's why I try to use it when I can.

At the present moment, there are only 3 monsters with that ability(including this one), a Gladiator, and another one I will name after.

It is also a neutral type and can be used with any other splinter in the game.

Here are some points that make it not used by most of players

Low speed: this can make it to miss a lot of attacks, so it's interesting to combine with cards that increase this attribute.

Low Health: it has only 1 point of life in lower levels, however it has 1 point of armor as well, so most of time it can hold at least two attacks, if not magic.

Its a good cost-benefit card

Another point that makes it not too used is the low supply of this card. There are only 3635 copies in circulation, making its cost high for rentals at higher levels. I rent it level 1, because there is no huge difference in higher levels, causing a little penalty points when win battles in rankeds. But for me it pays off, because my winrate using it is satisfactory. This makes it an excellent cost-benefit to have in your team.

Look at the difference of price for rentals between level 1 and level 2 in the image below. He gets only 1 additional speed, but it's 13 times more expensive. This print was taken at the beginning of a season, where rentals tend to be cheaper.

However, due to the recent drop in card prices, it becomes very attractive to Buy and add to your collection, especially if you not just play Splinterlands, but use as a long term investment.

Its regular foil price is in one of the lowest of the last 6 months, around $13.

While the gold foil is really below the bottom since the beginning of the year, with its price around $200.

Besides the points I have mentioned before, it also not a good idea to use in battles with extremely high mana.

For this, there is another card that was recently introduced that has the same ability, Arkemis The Bear. However, it's a Meele monster and cannot attack from backlines, forcing it to be used as a tanker most of the time.

And the Alchemist is a Range, being much more flexible to use.

Some rulesets where its use tends to work well

Equalizer: one of the focuses of this ruleset is put monsters with high attack, so I don't need to say anything else.

Reverse Speed: its speed is one of the lowest, so it is one of the first to attack, and can reduce the attack of a strong tanker before it happens.

Little league: it is efficient in higher leagues, because low mana monsters have a significant attack like high mana monsters.

Target Practice and Aimless: it can apply its ability to a monster with a high attack.

Aim True: monsters don't miss any attack, so why not put the ones with the most attack without worrying about speed?

Conclusion

Because only 2 monsters(3 with the Gladiator) have Halving ability, this makes the use of these monsters unexpected, and you can ruin your opponent's strategy.

In addition, it is already present since the first level of the Halfling Alchemist, so you can use this monster in any league and doesn't care about its level, paying a low price to rent it.

Olá a todos!

Hoje quero falar um pouco sobre um dos meus monstros de baixa mana favoritos, o Halfling Alchemist.

Ele é uma carta promocional que faz parte do set Untamed, possui um custo de mana extremamente baixo(apenas 2), e sua principal função é a sua habilidade de Halving, que reduz pela metade o ataque do monstro que ele acertar. Caso o valor seja ímpar, será reduzido para o menor, ou seja, se o ataque for 5, irá para 2.

Isso o torna extremamente útil nas mais diversas regras de batalha, e é por isso que eu tento usá-lo sempre que possível.

No momento em que este post foi escrito, há apenas 3 monstros com tal habilidade além dele, sendo um Gladiador, e o outro irei citar daqui a pouco.

Ele também é do tipo neutro, podendo ser usado junto com qualquer outro splinter do jogo.

Alguns pontos que o fazem não ser tão usado

A baixa velocidade, o que torna passível de cometer vários erros, fazendo com que seja interessante combinar com cartas que aumentem este atributo.

Baixa quantidade de vida, no entanto ele possui 1 ponto de armadura, o que faz com que na maioria das vezes ele aguente 2 ataques pelo menos, desde que não sejam mágicos.

É uma boa carta custo-benefício

Outro ponto que faz com que ele seja pouco utilizado, é a baixa oferta dessa carta. São apenas 3635 cópias em circulação, tornando o seu custo alto para aluguéis em níveis mais altos. Eu particularmente alugo ele nível 1 mesmo, pois não há grandes diferenças nos níveis maiores, causando apenas uma penalidade ao vencer batalhas nas rankeds. No entanto, para mim compensa, pois meu winrate usando ela é satisfatório.

Isso o torna um excelente custo-benefício para se ter em seu time.

Veja abaixo a diferença de preços para aluguel entre o nível 1 e 2. Ele recebe apenas 1 de velocidade adicional, mas custa 13 vezes mais caro. Esta print foi tirada no início de uma season, onde os aluguéis tendem a estar mais baratos.

No entanto, devido a queda recente do preço das cartas, ele se tornou bastante atrativo para Comprar e adicionar em sua coleção, principalmente se você tem a inteção de usar o Splinterlands como forma de investimento para longo prazo.

Seu preço em foil normal está entre os mais baixos dos últimos 6 meses, em torno dos 13 dólares.

Enquanto o gold foil está bem abaixo do mínimo desde o início do ano, com seu preço abaixo dos 200 dólares.

Além dos pontos já citados, ele também acaba não se tornando viável em situações de mana extremamente alta.
Para isso, há uma outra carta que foi recentemente introduzida e que possui a mesma habilidade, o Arkemis The Bear. No entanto, ele é tipo Meele e não consegue atacar das backlines, obrigando-o a ser utilizado como tanker.

Já o Alchemist é tipo Range, sendo muito mais flexível para ser usado.

Algumas regras em que o seu uso tende a funcionar bem

Equalizer: o foco aqui é tentar colocar monstros com ataque alto, então nem preciso dizer mais nada.

Reverse speed: como sua velocidade é baixa, ele acaba sendo um dos primeiros a atacar, podendo reduzir o ataque de um forte tanker antes que ele aconteça.

Little league: se torna eficiente em ligas mais altas, já que os monstros de mana baixa possuem um ataque significativo também.

Target Practice e Aimless: pode aplicar sua habilidade em um monstro com ataque alto.

Aim True: já que os monstros não erram, porque não botar os com mais ataque sem se preocupar com a velocidade?

Conclusão

O fato da habilidade Halving estar presente em apenas 2 monstros(3 incluindo o gladiador), faz com que o uso desse monstro se torne inesperado, podendo estragar a estratégia do seu oponente.
Além disso, ela já está presente desde o primeiro nível do Halfling Alchemist, possibilitando o jogador de desfrutar dessa habilidade em praticamente todas as ligas, tudo isso por um preço relativamente baixo, já que não há a necessidade de alugá-lo em um nível alto.
