A mixed-up proposal.

Aminat didn't stop smiling when she saw the ring box in her boyfriend's wardrobe.

"Could Bolaji be planning something?" Aminat thought as she stared at her boyfriend who was busy on his PC.

"Or he is finally ready to propose to me," She asked herself and just patched up her emotions while waiting for Bolaji to leave the bedroom so that she could check what kind of ring was in the box.

"Babe, can you get me juice?" Bolaji asked Aminat and it was a perfect opportunity to see what she wanted.

"You didn't ask when I went to the kitchen earlier and now, I am busy. I am chatting with a client," Aminat responded.

Bolaji just shook his head and dragged himself to the kitchen to get a glass of juice.

Immediately he walked out of the room, Aminat jumped out of the bed and quickly checked the ring. It was a golden ring with a tiny diamond sitting at the top and Aminat screamed out of joy.

She heard Bolaji's footsteps approaching the bedroom so she quickly took a picture of the ring and lay on the bed after.

"I heard you scream just now, what happened?" Bolaji asked.

"Scream? Maybe it came from outside," Aminat replied and pretended to be busy with her phone.

Aminat sent the pictures to her friends immediately and they assured her that Bolaji was going to propose to her anytime so she must be prepared.

"I feel like preparing your favourite meal today," Aminat said to Bolaji immediately after she got out of bed.

"Really? You always said pounding yam is stressful why the sudden inspiration to pound yam?" Bolaji asked.

"I just felt like, you know it's been a while or don't you crave it?" Aminat asked seductively.

"Why not? How much will make this meal? I think I still have some cash," Bolaji muttered.

"Don't worry, I will take care of that. All I need you to do is just eat," Aminat replied and left the room.

She went to a nearby market to get some ingredients and returned to start cooking immediately. Bolaji went to spy on her severally wondering what inspired his girlfriend to make his favorite meal which she always complained about when he asked for it.

About an hour and thirty minutes later, Aminat had set the dining table and invited Bolaji to join her. She didn't eat and just watched Bolaji empty the bowl of pounded yam.

"What's going on because I don't understand all this baby treatment you are giving me," Bolaji asked after the meal.

"What do you mean? Don't I pamper like this before?" Aminat asked.

"Yes, you do. You do very well," Bolaji replied.

"Babe, the boys want to hang out tonight and I want you to be there because everyone is coming with their girlfriends," Bolaji told Aminat and she was happy to hear that.

"Where are we going?" Aminat asked.

"Sheraton Hotel, it's just a small setting. Let's just chill," Bolaji replied and winked at her before returning to the bedroom to continue what he was doing on the PC.

Aminat quickly grabbed her phone immediately Bolaji left and updated her friends, she pleaded that they all showed up at the hotel to make the proposal a memorable one for her and they all agreed to show up.

Around 5 pm, Bolaji was surprised to see a make-up artist in his living room and Aminat's friend helping to set her up.

"What's happening?" He asked Aminat.

"Didn't you say we were hanging out tonight? I just wanted to look hot for you," She replied.

"Really? Isn't this too much," Bolaji asked.

"Nothing is too much for you," Aminat replied.

"I think I have to go earlier to put some things in order. You can come in my car since Lekan is here to pick me up," Bolaji told Aminat and left the house some minutes later.
Aminat rushed to check the ring and it wasn't there. She told her friends and they were very sure of what would happen that night.

Immediately it was 7 pm, Aminat arrived at the hotel and it was indeed a proposal setting. There were flowers and candles everywhere, the hall looked beautiful so she started taking pictures immediately after saying hello to Bolaji's friends.

Aminat posted the pictures on her status and directly to her friend as she hurried them to come to the hotel.

The party started and everything was going very well but everything on Aminat's mind was the proposal so she was careful not to ruin her makeup before the big hour.

Finally, Bolaji took the small podium to address everyone about the reason for the hangout and Aminat kept blushing.

"Today is a special day for every one of us here because today one of us is taking a big step and it's the first amongst us," Bolaji paused for some seconds.

"It's getting late and since we can't pause the time like Joshua did, I will just let today's surprise unveil itself." Bolaji continued and in the twinkle of an eye, Chidi one of Bolaji's friends was on his knee behind his girlfriend.

Immediately everyone started admiring Chidi, his girlfriend turned around and was surprised.

She covered her face for a moment and had to let the tears flow.

"Will you marry me?" Chidi asked softly and she said, "Yes". There was a loud noise after and everyone was happy for Chidi except Aminat who had gone closer to Chidi to examine the ring and was sure it was the same one she saw in his wardrobe.

She was speechless and her friends didn't know the words to express how they felt about what happened.
"I am breaking up with Bolaji," Aminat told her friends and they left the hotel immediately which made everyone surprised because the party was still on.

Bolaji followed Aminat to ask what was happening and she explained how she thought Bolaji was going to propose to her.

"The ring wasn't mine and why would you cook up such a story in your head," Bolaji asked but didn't get a response as Aminat left angrily.

Every effort to reach her that night failed and Bolaji didn't stop trying her lines the next morning. He called her friends and one of them hinted him where she was so Bolaji went there immediately.

He apologized for everything even though he didn't mean for things to happen that way and he promised to make their proposal special which he did a few months later.

Their wedding happened shortly after the proposal and they lived happily ever after.
