Face Your Fear? That concept isn't mysterious to me.

One thing about getting overwhelmed by fear, stepping up to face our fear, and subsequently overcoming that fear is that it isn't a process that's mysterious to me. That is something I'm quite accustomed to and it's a process we all need to go through at some point in life if we want to stand any chance of growing.

Do you know what's at the foundation of all the fear and anxiety we face in life? It's the fact that we know we are vulnerable humans and we know that if we are not careful enough in certain situations, we may come face to face with death, damage our reputation, or become known as failures.

So, how can we not be afraid when we know that things can go really bad?

That's the big question and it always reminds me of a moment when I had to face one of my biggest fears. You see, one of the things I fear the most is not having the money to do the things I need to do. I'm the sort of person who finds it hard to step out of my door without having cash in my wallet, money in the bank, or money in any form elsewhere. I'm generally scared of being broke and even more scared of being poor.

This is probably because I've had to live away from my family since I was 11 years old and there have been several moments when I had to stay cashless for days and weeks. That was the case during my boarding school days and that was also my situation when I was in Uni. So, when I finally graduated and started earning, I made sure that there would never be a moment when I would be completely cashless.

I know that if I run into any problem that I would have to solve with money, there wouldn't be anyone around to help me solve that problem. Also, if I allow myself to become cashless, I may end up incurring debt. And, I know from experience that being indebted isn't something I would ever want to give a try. I've been there before and I just wouldn't want to be in anyone's debt book again.

At some point during the COVID-19 era when my work paused, I got an opportunity to learn a few things which would help me make money. I needed to pay a fortune for that learning experience and I also had to get some gadgets to start practicing what I was learning. Getting into both of these meant I would risk being broke and cashless. That made me conflicted about the best approach to take. I didn't want to risk being broke but I also wanted to take care of the expenses needed to set up a new money-making opportunity for myself.

That was when I got taunted by my fear of being broke and fear of having to borrow money from people. I was torn apart by that, but I swallowed the hard pill and chose to put all my money on the line to learn a new skill and buy the gadgets that I would use to start putting the skill to work. I knew I already paid my rent for a year. So, I was committed to going through that period in a cashless mode.

It was rough and tough because at that point, I wasn't getting any salary from the Bank I was in their payroll, thanks to COVID-19. However, I'm still standing and the sacrifice I made back then helped me to grow so much, I even had to quit my 9-5 after the COVID-19 lockdown drama.

It's interesting writing about this fear I have about being broke because I'm at a point in life where I may have to risk using all the money I have to start something up. A part of me is scared of how I would survive if I go broke again. However, I'm preparing my mind for what the future holds. Hehe.

It's wild to even imagine that there are people who have never been broke since their life. My life wasn't like that so, I've subsequently become scared of being broke. Hehe.

Fear is probably the limiting factor every man has to conquer to achieve greatness. If you hadn't tackled fear to set yourself up, you may probably still be getting dragged about by one grumpy branch manager for no reason.

That's very true. We all have fears and it's important to be able to face the fear and overcome it. That helps us to grow.

Being broke is not an experience one should find himself or herself in oo especially when you have nowhere to source for help. One thing about me is that I don't like asking people for help financially and because of this, I fear going broke too but sometimes one wouldn't escape it, then you will see how tough it is then but we learn lessons through it while making sure that one do not experience it.

You are very correct. Having to borrow money from people isn't exactly an adorable experience. I have been there years ago and wouldn't want to experience it ever again.

We have similar gears my guy
And to be Frank with you, not having money is a serious problem to confront with. I can't even stand it
And that's why one must stand to face it and avoid it

True. It's hard to imagine living a life without money. It's very tough to be in that situation. Those that have experienced it wouldn't want to deal with it again.

The fear of uncertainty, the fear of how my life will certainly be if I go broke is not really a good fear to actually have

True. Since life is filled with uncertainty, it's hard to imagine what life would be like if someone becomes broke.

It is great you not let your fear stop you from putting your money on the line and I'm glad it paid off.

Fear is something we all constantly have to deal with and our ability to not let our fear get in the way of the things we have to do is very important.

That's true. Fear is always going to be there even when we are take brave steps. We just keep going despite the fear. That's usually how we grow and become better version of ourselves

I honestly despise being broke. I can't even imagine being in a situation where I would be cashless. I always try my possible best to ensure I have little money with me to sort out some expenses or any emergency.

You took a very big risk by using all your money to learn the skill you wanted but I must say, it was worth it 👍.

Yes oooo. Being broke and being completely cashless isn't an easy situation to be in especially for someone that has a duty of care. I try as much as possible to have some cash with me at all times.

This approach has been very effective.
