A spicy Easter Tango; The convo got thickened.

In light of the occasion of this season which is Easter Celebration, I decided to attend a hangout last night where we took turns to talk about a couple of things about Easter Celebration. Attending that was an interesting event because it was an opportunity to see what others think about Easter, what it individually signifies to them, and the sort of Easter tradition they adopt during this season.

I shared my thoughts and experience too and I will use this post as an opportunity to have those thoughts saved in the Blockchain. We will be digging into 2 out of the 3 questions that were presented in the hangout;

What is the significance of the Easter Celebration to you?

As a Christian and a Catholic, Easter season is the time of the year devoted to celebrating the biblical death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The build-up to this grand occasion starts 40 days before Easter and that exact day is Ash Wednesday. Interestingly, this year's Ash Wednesday aligned with Valentine's Day. I can still remember that day, 14th February, and how excited I was to attend Ash Wednesday Mass.

The period between Ash Wednesday to Holy Thursday usually marks the duration of Lenten season and that's the season when we are encouraged to engage in fasting and praying. For someone like myself who usually spends the first 70% of my day without eating a meal, I don't usually count that as my fasting during the build-up to easter. Instead, I choose to deprive myself of certain things which I enjoy doing.

For this year's Easter celebration, I cut down on a couple of things and I genuinely felt the impact of staying off from those things. In addition to that, I devoted each day of the Lenten season to engaging in acts of kindness.

Do you have any special Easter traditions with your family?

Oh, yeah! I'm born into a Catholic home where we take these occasions seriously. Mum will always remind us to go for Stations of the Cross each Friday during Lenten season and we always participated in the full activities of the holy week. Even though I didn't spend a lot of time at home while growing up because I was admitted into a boarding school when I was 10/11, I always came home during Easter to celebrate the occasion with my family.

Once it's Easter day, Mum usually cooks something really special for the family and we get to eat Chicken. Haha. Eating Chicken is always special at home because it's not something that happens often. We only get to eat chicken once in a while. Now that I'm all grown and facing life, it's not always possible for me to travel back home for Easter celebrations. I couldn't even travel for it this Easter.

However, I tried to make the season remarkable for me. I did a fair share of Lenten activities although I didn't do something special on Easter day. All I did was work and then go out to enjoy two football games. Haha. I didn't even cook something nice to eat. That's exactly what adulthood did to me. Thankfully, finance wasn't the issue. I just didn't feel like cooking anything. Instead, I ate out and thanked God for his blessings.

It's still the Easter season, right? Enjoy!

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.

Haha... I did my best to give myself that chicken treat oooo. I just wasn't in the mood to do any stuff in the kitchen. It would have been best to cook it myself. Lol.

Well, Easter was awesome.

While I am not devout, I always appreciate devout people go through the rituals of their faith without a large hue and cry. The way you go through it within your context of reality seems to be a very balanced and respectful way to keep the traditions alive. Later when you have a family and you are its head you might want to be even more elaborate with the activities so as to teach the next generation. As long you had the Lord in your heart and lips and you tried to be good, and you thanked HIM all is well. Happy Easter to you my friend.

Cheers #dreemerforlife

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this. I genuinely appreciate it and I appreciate the compliment you gave.

I've always really been that sort of Christian. I don't hide it, but I also don't call upon the world to come and see me as a Christian. I personalize my Christianity and I often like to take a more spiritual approach to it compared to just being religious. Hehe.

I like what you said about leading my home in this same direction. That's exactly what I plan to do.

Thanks so so so much.

Perhaps, your next easter celebration will be eventful. You obviously had special acts and rights performed while growing up. I think you should not let that go.

Well done #dreemer.

That's very true. We had a lot of remarkable events that marked easter celebration when I was still at home. I wouldn't want to let go of these special events. Hehe.

Easter is usually more lively among the Catholics from my observation, and I also loved watching their carrying of cross activity on easter Friday, I missed this year though because of my new location which is very far away from the nearest catholic church.

I'm glad you had a nice easter celebration.

Hahah... It's very true. Catholic have more ceremonies during Easter than what we have during Christmas. It's always a pleasure to be part of those. Hehe.

Sounds like you had a blessed Easter, Kene! That makes me happy :-) Do you live far from your family? I hope you get to spend some time with them all soon🤗

We had a lovely Easter weekend too... I spent the month leading up to Easter doing a juice fast and spending lot of time in prayer. It was a good season of Hope renewed.

I dropped into Dreemport this evening to read your post. !LUV !ALIVE

Thanks so much, Sam. Haha. I live very far away from home. Traveling from where I stay to where my parents stay is about 10 hour's journey by road. Hehe. I couldn't celebrate this Easter with them. But I hope to spend some time with them at some point this year.

Your build-up to the easter celebration is awesome. I like that. Hehe. Well Done, Sam.
