The Mysterious Invitation || PowerWriting Prompt #1
Who's up for a creative writing challenge?
There's a new creative writing challenge by @powerclub titled "PowerWriting Prompts" that involves crafting an interesting 50-word story, just like a zapfic.
The first prompt is,
Write about a mysterious letter that arrives at your doorstep, filled with cryptic symbols and an urgent message.
The plot surrounds a young noble lady with a secret lover, longing to attend a ball but uncertain about how to do so with her lover who is not a part of the English upper class. Thankfully, it's a masquerade ball. The settings I had in mind for this story is the Victorian era.
Here's my story and the screenshot.
Everyone was excited for the masquerade ball, except Liliana. "No invite yet?" Salome mocked her at the modiste.
Liliana collected her dress and hurried home. A mysterious invitation with symbols like a secret language was waiting. Her secret admirer.
He swept her away on a horse-drawn carriage to the ball.

Excellently weaved! How I love secret admirers on one end and secret envies on the other. Makes for an exciting masquerade ball match up. Won't Salome, her friend I presume, be shocked when Liliana arrives at the party if she notices her. Even more so, when she unveils.
I was happy to hear that her secret admirer sent the note instead of a prankster.

This is life basically! Secret admirers and loves on my side and secret envies/hatred on the other.
In my head, Liliana always got all the attention except for an invitation to the famous ball. Salome got an invite and felt for once she was better than her friend.
Shocker! Liliana arrived the ball on the arms of her admirer. Hehe. In that era, gossip reigned and among the ton, everyone lived false lives to measure up to others.
