๐๏ธ Search & Destroy With Nutsara ๐ถ Tapioca, & Other Non-Related Things ๐ฎ
When little Nutsara comes to visit our house, her favorite thing to do is destroy my Jenga block towers, so I try and see how tall I can get them before she topples them and giggles.
I've Gone GIF Crazy ๐คช
ย ย ย I couldn't resist making a GIF of Nutstara destroying my block tower, so I decided I'd continue the trend and make a GIF out of my attempt at loving sister photography. Monkey-B tried to give Srey-Yuu some bunny ears, then Srey-Yuu violently declined, and then the two came to a standoff, with Srey-Yuu maintaining a tight grasp on her little sister's arm. I like the end result much more than the photo I was wanting to snap.
Tapioca Time ๐ฎ
ย ย ย Monkey-B has become a fan of my style of tapioca pudding, and I honestly don't know why because it's so simple, just tapioca pearls, palm sugar, and coconut milk. For whatever reason, she demands it often, and I comply most of the time.
GIF The Descent ๐งโโ๏ธ
ย ย ย Now that Nutsara is familiar with the lay of our land, she often reaches out for a human hand, then takes whoever she gets, uses them for stability, then wanders around looking for adventure, usually ending at the house where whe wants to play with the Jenga blocks.
ย ย ย She now knows where the blocks are stored in my daughters' room, and will get them by herself, sit down and wait for people to join her. I am still speaking mostly English to her, so I hope this cute little girl will grow up understanding it a bit.
Operation Privacy Fence ๐ต๏ธโโ๏ธ
ย ย ย Work is moving slowly but surely on our privacy fence, and I can't wait to have more control over who enters our land. All my life I've craved an oasis, a sort of shelter from the human storm, after getting stranded abroad for three years in South America during the pandemic, I must admit I've lost a lot of faith in my fellow humans, and this caused me to crave a peaceful quiet place to heal and reclaim sanity. Our life here is a world away from standing in line at Western Union for six hours in Paramaribo only to find out they've just run out of money and to try again the next day.

Ah... that little young man names is Nutsara...?
I think his love to play Jenga with you, why you not try to learn him how to build the Jenga Tower, maybe he will understand and maybe stop to crushing your Jenga Tower. ๐ค
The little man is Ah Boom, and the little girl is Nutsara, his little sister. She still doesn't have the dexterity in her hands to balance blocks yet, but the other day she accidentally stacked two blocks and laughed about it for several minutes.
Haha... that's nice. ๐
Sounds like you are still traumatized and that is so understandable and relatable too. What a strange time and then the pandemic too. But at least you have a retreat of sorts now.
You are probably right, but because everyone is a little off in Cambodia anyways, I have not noticed these things. At least here we're more capable of putting distance between us and the world we've mostly given up on. Had a tough realization the other that we'll never get a US visa, and my family will never come to visit here, and that basically means my 'Merican family members have chosen never to meet my Cambodian family members.
It stinks that fences are necessary but I can totally understand your objective here. In Thailand property fences are necessary for a number of reasons, the main one being encroachment. People will slowly but surely simply take over your land in many places here if it isn't fenced off.
Encroachment is the name of the game here too, but because all the paperwork was burned during the genocide, there are now hard titles and soft titles because only a small percentage of the country has been re-surveyed, and families who returned after the war were not allowed to reclaim their homes because they had no official paperwork. Our neighbor on one side built a bathroom on her neighbor's land when the guy was out of town, now it's her land because he wasn't able to stop it.
You don't realize how time flies when you are playing with children. And we live our childhood with them. There is a lot of joy in spending time with children.
That is true, I feel so lucky that my daughters are also my best friends.
Just like Monkey B, I so like tapioca. It's my favorite dessert. There's always an advantage if our house is being fenced; less jeopardy.
Tapioca was my favorite childhood dessert, so I sympathize with Monkey-B. I hope the fence is up soon, but I didn't realize all of the politics that would need to be involved.
