Change, as time changes in business

Times are changing really fast. I don't know why but what I know is that as it changed, I am moving with it. Long before now, we didn't have access to mobile phones as much as we all do now. Before you could reach a distant relative or friend, you should know the post office. I don't think there are post offices anymore. Even if it still exists, I don't know how often people write letters. I think post offices are obsolete now. I can't even imagine myself sitting down to write a letter not to talk of walking all the way to a post office when I have a phone nearby to put a call across. Changing as the time changes is very important as a business owner.

What happened?

On my way home this evening, a lady met me. She brought out some perfumes for sale. The fragrances were super cool. Unfortunately, I just restocked and didn't have any need for a new bottle of perfume. However, I told her that I would reach her soon to purchase from her. I asked her to give me her social media handle so I can go through her page and just in case I see something I like, I will reach out to her there. I was so shocked when she told me she didn't have a social media page.

what? A business owner doesn't have a social media page in this present day and time?

I asked her what her reason was and she said nothing. That she doesn't like to be on social media. According to her, she doesn't have that time to be wasting online. I knew immediately that she was this overly spiritual person. I calmly explained to her the essence of being on social media. I also run a business and I try as much as I can to showcase my business everyday on my social media page. I have made a lot of sales from my Facebook page more than my physical store.

People no longer have that time to walk in to stores these days. So the best they do is buy whatever they want from the comfort of their homes. And if as a business owner you don't have time to showcase your product online, how do you even get your customers? There are things that are just common sense and this is part of it. It is common sense to know that technology has advanced and for me I think it is for our own advantage.

There are people who don't have have physical shops but make sales by displaying their goods and services on their social media pages. In this present time that the economy is not friendly,you will agree with me that it is not easy to even rent a shop. So the best thing to do is just stay in the comfort of your home, take as much pictures as possible and post online. That way you even reach a wider audience both national and international.

Every business owner should understand this logic and try as much as he or she can to put their businesses out there. I think it is even cheaper and very convenient. These days service providers ensure that data is relatively cheap for everyone. That's a big advantage for every business owner.
