The Significance Of Small & Huge Conversations On Hive

So I got an interesting reply from hivebuzz on this post that I had made more than 38k comments on the chain in 5 years and less than 4 months, and one of the reasons why I like these stats is that it helps you keep tabs on your consistency level and rejuvenates your choice to keep going till you achieve a certain round figure.

Making comments are an aspect of engagement on hive that is instrumental to the establishment of one's identity. For example, engagement is one of the ways to tell who a user is; their content style, niche, intent, or even the recognizable personality which it's attached to their username.

Antecedents Matters A Lot

Since we're all typing away on our keypads, scattered across the globe and being united by a Blockchain, the major way to initiate our identity is by the kind of unique interaction we create.

So each comment we decide to make is recorded by chain and kept for reference purposes and people can attach a sort of familiarity towards you, because of what your comment looks like.

It's easy to tell if you read a content through your comments or if you just skimmed through, the characters of your comment, tell a thing or two about your networking skills, and this is why we become close to some users, more than others.

Samness Of Interaction

When there's a relationship or semblance of sameness to how we interact, a special bond is formed and this is how we get to select the most important people that will be instrumental and influential to our growth and development throughout our stay on the Blockchain.

Through the use of engagement, we can sift through the myriad of users here and select the people we want to be affiliated with.

This is how we also select the type of content we want to consume or the people who we want to constantly keep close to us because of how trustworthy they seemed to have established themselves over time. It's easy to tell if we want to create a special affinity with a person beyond the chain.

There are people we've established real-time business relationships with, starting with just a conversation.

This is possible because pieces of information can be gotten from one's interaction style and this is why some people can boldly call some other users their "friends" on the chain, even if they've never met in real life.

There are casual comments, and there are life-changing comments, there are comments that act as a renewal of longevity.

There are people who we talk to, on a daily, not because their content is brilliant or because they're orcas or whales, but because we've attached a certain sentiment to their personality which makes us subconsciously talk to them on a daily, whether it's through a discord server, a community, or directly through their contents.

I treasured every interaction and every comment

This is because no matter the simplicity or depth of a comment, the idea is to relate to a user specially. Although I wouldn't say every comment has been growth-based.

Some of them have been a result of my inquisitiveness, and my hunger to learn or develop.

Because hive is interaction-based, your level of growth is often dependent on your engagement scope, format, uniqueness, and style, and growth can be in many forms. Maybe in terms of numbers or knowledge through the consumption of certain contents.

38k might seem like a lot, but through the course of five years, it's an average of 20 comments per day

This includes replies that span into endless interaction

With just a simple query, we can learn a lot. For example, I had zero knowledge about crypto works before hive, but through the use of engagement, I've come to learn a lot, by systematically choosing my content consumption.

Without the decision or the intention to interact with the chain, growth is impossible.

So each milestone one achieves on hive is because of their consistent interaction with the chain, and this is why some people achieve more milestones than others because intensity and participation tend to vary from user to user.

Hive is a Blockchain where a user's level of participation and consistency contributes to their growth

this is why every number you throw in is often thrown back at you, as a reminder of how well you've done.

If you haven't been checking your stats, it's important to do so, because these figures are the proof you have---the metrics to measure how well you've come and it might even decide if you need to do more.

By and large, the human milestones I've achieved, the number of friends, and the significance of the bond I've formed with these people are some of my biggest achievements for me thus far. Cheers to 38k of knowledge, numbers, and family. 40k incoming.

I agree with you that through comments, friendships have been nurtured. Sharing your thoughts and ideas on ones post can be a way to build very useful relationships in the long run.

20 comments a day isn't so bad afterall. It shows your determination, consistency and progress. You should keep it up✨

Even, one can build things that can transcend into real life. Some of my best real life friends. I got to know them through hive. It's even better than some of the ones I've formed in real life. Sometimes, what the internet, web3 and the Blockchain is far bigger than anything real life can offer us.

There are casual comments, and there are life-changing comments, there are comments that act as a renewal of longevity.

I totally agree with you, I get some comments on my post sometimes and I am totally speechless, I don’t just reply immediately, I take a break, ponder on it and reply.

The warmth I get from some people’s comments on my post or their reply to my comment on theirs makes my heart melts.

I’d anyways stand on the fact that engagement is key.

Thanks for sharing 😃

Truly there are comments such as the one you describe and sometimes, they're the basis of everything you need to develop, not even as a hive person, but better in many ways. Some of these comments have even helped to establish and teach us.
Thanks for your comment, Indeed, engagement is a game changer

38k Wow is 10k more than the comments I have made on Hive. I am currently pushing for 29k.

Engagement does the magic on Hive even though it is a tough one to do, one has to build relationships, last year was my most engaging and I saw its positive impact in multiples ways.

I tend to have dropped again in commenting, I seriously need to pick up again. Congrats on 38k

An Awesome Milestone!

tell a thing or two about your networking skills, and this is why we become close to some users, more than others.

Couldn't agree more, most of peeps who I interacted with never saw their face but more aware of their personality through engagement we make on Blockchain.

whether it's through a discord server, a community, or directly through their contents.

This sort of connections is blessing. I can name some frens we're just interacting through comments from Years, a few have access to WhatsApp or other socials... That's the kind of trust and relations we build through interactions.

it's an average of 20 comments per day

This shows the consistency bruh! Speak itself. A 5 Years journey is a wonderful thing. Pretty sure that 40k is coming very soon. Keep it up!

Hive has given me countless friends and I can't be less happy getting to know each of them. Consistency is the key and quality engagement helps open the lock.

As you said, they are people I have met here but we haven't met in reality and they've helped shaped my life for the better just like I have.

It is quite interesting how being here has opened my eyes to a lot of juicy stuff and the amazing part of it all is that... I haven't even seen anything. There is still a long way to go and people to meet on the way.

Some of them have been a result of my inquisitiveness, and my hunger to learn or develop.

This is mostly why I engage. I read a lot of posts, but I don’t comment on all of them unless I have something to add or am curious about something in the post. The interesting thing is that if you engage enough even out of curiosity, it’ll still help your growth on the side even if that wasn’t your intent for engaging.

If you haven't been checking your stats, it's important to do so

Think this is one thing that most people surprisingly don’t do. Some people even regard the comments from hivebuzz as bugging. I love them, cos they really remind you of how far you’ve come on your journey on Hive and that helps you assess your content and your stance with community in a way.

Congratulations on that milestone, it is through comments and interactions that we keep the blockchain alive. Asking questions, commenting and being inquisitive is how we learn and grow. I am always thankful to @hivebuzz every time I receive a comment on a milestone I achieve because it's important to know how I am fairing on. Definitely do keep engaging and learning.
Thank you so much for sharing and enjoy the new week ahead :}

Congratulations on the milestone. I think that is great progress and 20 per day is already a large amount. I think everyone should strive for like 10 comments a day and the best way to grow is to communicate with others.

That’s awesome man! I’m getting up there with my comments I think, nearly crossing 20k soon which is great. It is indeed a remarkable way to leave a little piece of our being here on the chain and form some great bones with people we likely will never meet in the flesh but can get to know someone better than a fair bit of people in their network locally. It’s quite an interesting thing, this little corner of the internet!

Yeah, I know it's hectic to be a commentor. But we just gotta try sometimes. I have no doubt you'd do better.

Engagement and interaction definitely matter!

That's an impressive number you've reached there... but getting back to the the idea of "conversations," perhaps the important thing here — from a social perspective — is that comments in this community make people feel like they have been seen, because so many upvotes are automated, so they are not really something we can go by.

=^..^=

Well I'm not completely talking about the metrics of vote and exposure. While many votes are automated like you've said, I think a lot are becoming more organic, it's a gradual process. But, I'm focusing more on how these interactions and conversations have influenced me as a person more than anything; the friends I've made and how something different can transcend into real life.

This is very true and well articulated. It's something you "understand" by experiencing it. People who relate, process, and communicate "your language" are more likely to attract your attention, and subsequently initiate engagement.
