Personal Finance: Living & Preparing For When You Will Become Inconsistent

A person's level of consistency can also be determined by their exposure and experience rather than their zeal for hard work or smart work.

20220825_075144_0000.png

While the zeal for work, plus experience and exposure are needed ingredients to stay creative for a long time, we also should understand that while "time" can be essential to helping us sharpen our skills, and help us become better at our trade especially when we've put in the efforts, it can also be a double-edged sword in the sense that it also takes away that youthful vigor that we need, the energy to go all the way in turning set goals into accomplishments.

Hitting Diminishing Returns

This means that we can hit diminishing returns when we've gathered just enough experience to "right our wrongs", retrace our steps from those bad investments or become better business people.

This is one of the reasons why "time" plays a role in the success or failure of a person. People become abject failures when they cannot build on their previous failures to become better people.

For example, a person at 29 who won a lottery of $5 million and blew it on women and drinking, can still become a better business person especially if they can build on the mistakes of their yesteryears to act differently when a different opportunity presents itself.

Being Blindsided Despite Efforts At Redemption

Nevertheless, such a person can still repeat the sake at 35, at when they're finally refined at 48 and ready to do better, time can make it difficult for them to replicate the energy they had when they were 35, meaning that they've gotten the experience, but the strength to become accomplishers isn't just there anymore.

We might call these people failures because they finally didn't cut it even after they did come back better and refined. Now a lot of people misinterpret the meaning of failure. People only think that failure is a result of a lack of preparation.

But this isn't true, sometimes people fail because of being blindsided, being slightly wrong in their adjudication of choices. making wrong decisions when it comes to making the final choices.

Why Does Failure Matter The Most?

However, we mostly fail to applaud people for all the good decisions they've made because they failed to get the one that mattered the most. This means that in life we live for "results" and not "process". This isn't because the former is not necessarily important it's because the "latter" is what creates the bigger impact.

Sometimes we only begin to see clearly when we have failed because naturally, everyone who is a decision maker is blindsided to an extent.

We cannot predict when we'd get employed, how much we'd potentially earn, the cost of living whenever these things happen, their effect on our finances, and whether we'd still be able to accomplish the initial plans we've put in place. Most of the time we prepare for situations like this by having things like insurance, but how about insuring ourselves against the things we cannot fathom?

Taking Advantage Of Your Youthful Productivity

As time goes on, life becomes more uncertain, this is because change brings unexpected events. This is while time itself is a double-edged sword, it makes things happen in our favor but further creates uncertainty as it goes, leaving us blindsided in our uttermost chase to crown our efforts with the needed results that come with it.

For example, we can never be consistent forever, even if we're getting better at what we do. For example, a person might be able to comfortably do four jobs per day. Over time they get better at doing it, but it'll be hard to maintain that consistency because of factors beyond their control, for example, death, health issues, or familial commitments.

This is why we shouldn't count on our consistency to work forever, living to prepare for when we might become inconsistent is an important aspect of personal finance that is important.

You are recommended to use vyb and/or pob tag for earning the tokens.

Hey Amber,

Can you explain to us why you recommend this?

Recommended.....! For earning the tokens.
Without the use of tags, the tokens can't be earned.

I'm more thinking from the angle of what gives VYB/POB tokens value?

Can you explain why someone would buy these tokens off the market, after a blogger earns them by simply putting the tag onto their content?

Are there any other sinks or mechanisms in place to soak up this supply and prevent it from eventually going to zero as more bloggers earn and dump?

Unfortunately, I cannot tell a reason to buy these tokens. They started with great zeal but I don't know why they slowed down working for them.

I still curate for them is because it is a way to appreciate quality content creators. People with pob and vyb stakes also have hive stakes and so when they use the tag and are upvoted, some hive are also rewarded to them.

If you can't come up with a single reason why someone would buy VYB/POB tokens off the market, I'd encourage you to come and curate on leofinance.io instead.

As a niche crypto community with over 1000 active users, there is value in taking the stake required to put your content front and centre on their domain.

With ad revenue being collected and eventually used to buy back and burn LEO, there is a clear path to equilibrium between buyers and sellers.

Make the change ;)

sometimes people fail because of being blindsided, being slightly wrong in their adjudication of choices. making wrong decisions when it comes to making the final choices.

That's so true. Sometimes we spend so much efforts and energy but that is in the wrong direction and so the failure results.

This isn't because the former is not necessarily important it's because the "latter" is what creates the bigger impact.

It is also because the result is visible but not the process

we can never be consistent forever, even if we're getting better at what we do

This is something I think of often. I feel over time when I will be more skillful at the things I do, will I still have the energy to keep up the pace. Time gives something at the expense of some other thing.
It is very important to make the most of whatever is available today

Not a lot of people even likes to showcase the process or processes, but this is wrong. While the result is good, I think, not everything is easy and we shouldn't pressure others to thinking life's easy. Fakery everywhere.

By showcasing the process, the purpose of advertisement hurts, doesn't it?

I fell sick for over two weeks now. That's when I realized I needed a system. Something that works without me necessarily being there.

I understood there will be a time when I won't have all the energy and that I should find ways by which I can generate money even though I am not working too hard.

Looks like that would be Crypto. I must say, you should seek other crypto opportunities as well. I'm waiting for the bull market to bring some of my plans into fruition. What you crave is what I do too.

Well, not that I really know of, but learning crypto short term trading is a great way to make money. It's quite difficult though.

It's hard for everything to stay constant and I agree that people should branch off so they can have investments pay off instead of work hours. At least, that is what I plan on doing as well. I don't want to work forever and I want to make sure that my money works for me. Becoming financially free is one of my goals.

Hahaha whoever is financially conscious knows they'll not be able to work forever and they must prepare for a time when they wouldn't be able to work at all. Preparing for such a period is paramount in the life of a person.

Doing what you can while you can is something one has to always keep in mind. Time is a resource, one that is crucial to everything we do. This is why one has to ensure that one utilises it well.

However, just like every resource, one can not have 100% efficiency in producing the desired output with time. There will always be shortcomings, and these shortcomings come in the form of "being inconsistent."

As much as we try, we cannot always be consistent. We can only come close to doing the best we can, while we can. This is because life's circumstantial happenings will always take place and shift us off balance sometimes. This is why one needs to understand the importance of "living to prepare for when incosistency sets in."

In the end, all that we are all after is "balance." Balance: achieving a state of equilibrium in order to perform effectively and efficiently.

Even, I think a time will come when we'll have all the time, energy and vibe to be consistent 100% I think this is when we should take full advantage. Preparing for when we wouldn't be able to replicate our energy is something that's essential and like you've pointed out, everyone should learn to live for it.

Like you've said, balance in everything is important.

Wise words. Your hypothetical about the 25 year old man who blew his fortune on women and still having the chance for a comeback is kinda questionable though lol.

Youthful productivity is definitely something we need to take full advantage of. This is when your testosterone(for us males) is highest and when you have the greatest energy to pursue goals. It’s a critical time in your life that determines your success or failure.

You're right, it's questionable but it is reality, a true testament to the fact that with time and the right determination we can certainly accomplish a whole lot.
Needless to say, a lot of people, hardly puts theirs youthful years to use, except for women, drinks and the wrong priorities, however, irrespective of the fact that we all use the same time, the timeline of our our lives are different and hence this is why we shouldn't live in the illusion that we're young, until we wake up to realize we've wasted all that time.

I so much focus on the process because I know I can’t have it all at once, I have failed in many aspects but I know the goal is to be financially free which requires time and consistency

I've been critical of the hustler mentality in the past and stand by that statement.

Hustling 24/7 sounds good in theory, but the reality is that you burn out.

Like you said, you're going to be inconsistent at times.

And that's totally okay!

You're much better off slowly grinding at a comfortable pace.

Just make sure you're focusing on essential tasks that actually make you money!

That's the key.
