Money: A Center Of Ultimate Achievability

The First time I dropped out of school, I had to tell everyone it was due to the fact that I didn't have money to continue, but this wasn't just about not having money, it was about being in situations where needing money was inevitable hence bringing the pressure to do unthinkable things to get that money.

During this period, My father had just died and my mother was hospitalized for months, so I didn't just need money for myself, they also needed money for medical requirements. I had to draw a mental scale of preference of which was more important and sadly, their health was more important, keeping my mental health intact was more important, keeping my body from crashing due to unnecessary stress was important.

Sadly, I had to keep my decision tethered to Money. Although I could have kept pushing, I felt that ultimately, I'd lose in the long run, because I didn't have the resources to continue, the zeal to continue died inside of me. I wasn't a person who would subject himself to begging to have the basic things of life.

So the thoughts of waking up every day to beg people for five years to survive in college created a Mental image in me, what if the people I was begging got tired of giving, and I had gotten to a point where I can no longer return, what measures would I have to resort to, to get to the finishing line? I saw myself futuristically doing unimaginable things for money, gambling was one of them.

Being in the ultimate state of need can trigger the pressure to do anything

When people become too needy it takes away the advantage of choices, and when people's choices are taken away in life, they'll have no option but to succumb to doing questionable things. You see, there's a difference between not having money and needing money.

When my parents were alive, we never had enough, but we never got into emergency situations where this financial situation was tested. Some people can feed, clothe, and shelter, but anything beyond this, they cannot do. If they were to have a medical emergency, their state of poverty is going to be strikingly evident.

There are people in life who don't know their state of lack and a few of these people might be lucky to never have to face a financial emergency, but the ones who are unlucky to have to, these are the people who might experience the pain of choicelessness and be exposed to doing unimaginable things for money. For example, someone who sleeps with another person to raise money for school fees or medical bills.

The joy or pleasure in having sex is removed because they'll feel violated for crossing a line. However, this is why we must be conscious enough. When I dropped out of school the first time, I had enough money to cater to some needs for just a short period, but what eventually happens after that?

png_20230107_071820_0000.png

The exposure to unimaginable lack leads to an unquestionable craving for survival.

Nevertheless, life is full of so many people who are not conscious enough, it would be difficult to explain these things to them, so the easiest thing would be to attach unaffordability to your goals and aims because this is what almost everyone can understand.

Money was the explainable factor when people cannot continue building their dreams, I mean, it's absurd to tell people that you gave up on your dreams because you could not cope with the way life violates your mental fortitude, simply blaming money as the problem was easier for people to understand and this is because we place money at the center of our existence, attaching it with invisible equality to every problem we have in life, either it's physical or not.

While this isn't bad

It creates an incursion there are times that we incur problems that something as simple as love and attention would take care of, but because we didn't have this, we just simply blamed it on money. This is because we usually feel that money is the source of achievement. In life, it's usually difficult to admit our problems are beyond Money, especially when money is built to solve almost every problem in the 21st century.

I was talking to a person one day, they asked me why I preferred attending online church services rather than the physical ones and they scolded me for choosing the easier option. I wanted to tell them that my health issues, creates a niggling limitation for me, but seeing that they weren't conscious enough to understand, I simply told them I didn't have the money for transportation and this they could easily understand.

Money problems Are Relatable

Some people's understanding are limited to this

Because it was easy to tie my problem to money, I easily did so, because the world is easily filled with people who seem intelligent on the surface, but lack the right consciousness for proper comprehension.

This isn't to say money does not take care of everything, but money itself tampers with the very fiber of our mental anatomy. It can create physical solutions, but sometimes our problems already ripples into psychological embers where the reach of money becomes impossible.

Omoh. What is a better way to put this? The way money affects life's decision is just unbelievable. And as human beings, we are subjected to the mentality. We only understand nthe money language. Do you know that if I were the one you told about the health issue, I would also be short sighted? Mehn.

Yeah, this is because sometimes, we choose to be unconscious. Life runs too deep, the ability to see beyond things is what we must cultivate. Money creates a ripple, an imaginable loop which makes it difficult to understand some salient things about our ordinary but complicated lives.

Do you know that if I were the one you told about the health issue, I would also be short sighted? Mehn.

Yeah, I know, so mostly, I'll just speak a language that is relatable and that's typing all the problem to money..

Being in the ultimate state of need can trigger the pressure to do anything

This is true, when someone is deeply in need , he or she lacks the ability to think straight and can end up making a decision that ordinarily he wouldn't make if everything is okay.

The other time,my husband got a contract with a difficult client. The man would slash every quotation my husband gave him and out of pressure to get the contract, he succumbed and then what happened? The money couldn't finish the project he accepted out of pressure. It was another difficult situation for him and then he later asked himself, "how did I accept this kind of price slash in this economy". He didn't consider anything at first because he needed money until things went wrong.

I perfectly understand you joe, money problems are really relatable.

I can understand that of your husband, I'll be happy if you can employ me to be his psychologist in business administration. Haha. Anyways I think if it's not worth it, then the end wouldn't justify the means, but because we don't want to lose out, sometimes we accept things, situation we cannot handle and it becomes difficult to get to the finishing line.

Hahaha 😂😂😂

I really think he needs this psychologist in bussinness admin oo cos a lot of time, taking some decisions is just difficult and comes like two edged sword.

sometimes we accept things, situation we cannot handle and it becomes difficult to get to the finishing line.

Yea, getting to the finishing line is always an issue when we get it all wrong in the beginning.

Generally, decision-making can be hard especially if they're entwined with our emotions. The sentiments that ensues can be dilemmuc. So I think so many business people are in this situation. So, it takes a lot to conquer these situations. I know it's not related to the money issue, but it's still all about sentiment, emotions and making decisions.

Your ability to use your stories as a case of study during your discussion is so encouraging. You are not motivating yourself but others too because we find ourselves in this same problems of yours. You are a pillar of support and encouragement to us all. Money is really important but the attitude towards it really matters a lot

I have never been in a situation where I really needed money and I feel sorry that it has affected you. I understand there wasn't much you could do and I would have probably taken the same route as I think family is more important than education. I also agree that blaming it on money makes it way easier for people to understand. Everyone understands that money is a key part of our lives.

Yeah,I have been in that situation, I felt like doing questionable things wouldn't really justify the outcome eventually, but in life we make hard choices. But it's easier to blame money for some of our failings, it's more comprehensible I guess.

I guess this was a big blow at that point, the traumatic effect it hard on you must have been so much to bear especially when you look around and no one to rest a shoulder on.

Looking at the amazing things you do now, no one could ever guess what you went thru, it is so evidence now that the best of everything in life comes from the hard and unexpected side of life...

We all got stories, and things we've been thru is constantly shaping us for a better us, I'd tell you, you would have not been who you are now if these experiences hadn't shaped your life, the way it did.

The boldness to even share this is just so overwhelming....

Appreciate you for been this strong and holding on...

Hahaha, I think sometimes, I might have been an unconscious and selfish prick, if I didn't have to go through some of the things I went through.

As for the courage or boldness to talk about it, sometimes, I feel inclined to use myself as a perfect example when I'm writing.

I used to teach literature back in the days, so it was signatory to use examples for even better comprehension, so I'm definitely used to it.
But like you've said, we have beautiful and sad stories as well .

My cousin was narrating a story to me of how a lady was asked to put off her bra and pant for 200k. She didn't want to do it at first but her friend was kind of influencing her to do so and collect the money.

So many unimaginable things we do for money and when the deed has been done, we start to think and regret on our decision. When money is involved, we tend to take some rash decision that might tamper with our health, even psychologically wise later. May God help us because we have tied everything to money and no one wants to listen to any other thing except money.

Well, some people are broke but never get to that level of being needy due to emergency. The case of that lady might be greed, it might just be that she's at that state where she'll do anything for money, irrespective, one thing that we really need to hope for is never to be in that state of hopelessness where anything becomes possible because of money

Amen 🙏🙏
That is a big prayer to keep praying because we are humans... We are judging others just because such a thing hasn't happened to us but we keep praying so we don't get to that point.

I think people would go at lengths to get the money when they feel that they need it. It's just characteristic of human nature with its survival instincts. And money is often equated with 'survival'. I've occasionally choose getting money over friends and friends have also chosen getting money over me. In both cases, only one thing matters at that point and it was survival.

This isn't good at all, I wouldn't lie, Going all the lengthy for money makes people unpredictable and dangerous. At the point of survival, people lose essential human traits that exactly makes them human, which can be bad. Being needy is a state of vulnerability, but you've pointed out that it's mainly survival.

It indeed makes people dangerous because it often resolves in them being unconventional or illogical. I think that's a phase where most people are vulnerable at in that it can alter their trajectory of life for good or bad.

The 21st century makes it seem like money can take care of anything. So it feels understandable when people begin to do questionable things. It begins dangerous to even begin to imagine the extent.

Life run deep than what we think sometimes and that is why we should be good for no reason. If money is only your problem thank God

That's true, the problems Money can solve are not the only thing. Imagine people who have everything but still can't take care of their problems. Money can be fleeting

I can see reflection of my life in Your Story and situation.... Also Got dropped out of school because of similar reason.

When father passed away... Everything changed and being elder child of family I had no choice other than accepting what it is and earn money to make a living.

I understand each and everything you said! Still living in a world where people say money can't buy happiness... This phrase always boil my blood tbh.

Everything in this world kinda revolves around money and we choose difficult or easy way depends on person and situation. Only escape from all this is Getting financially strong enough.

People who have faced what we've faced appreciates it when we can get by in life. Irrespective, going through issues can make one become considerate in their ideologies about money

I could relate to this as well because I almost went through the same process when I was still in school. Being in such situation in school where there is no means to survive or cater for other expenses would be very difficult to handle.

I guess we can both relate to it because it's a situational experience from the place we both come from, it's crazy how we still struggle till today, only that it's gotten better overtime.

I simply told them I didn't have the money for transportation and this they could easily understand.

It sounds like you have been through many trials in life, not just related to money. But that certainly seems true that people can relate to having money problems, especially with the current inflationary environment.

Many people can understand money problem, but not any other problems. You are right, I've seen issues that goes beyond money. The insecurity of lack and other underlying issues that seem to come with it. Somehow, it's shaped my mentality to some extent.

Mehnn...you got it.it just reminded me of this Nigeria series "Far from home"..if you see the things Ishaya had to do for money and funny how it will start from a smaller stage before you know it now somebody will be killing for money and all..although I've not experienced it before I feel like I can relate or imagine being in that shoes

It's really telling on a lot of individuals , but at the end of the day money is still the centre of everything , so it's really sad that we have to face the reality of economic crisis

Money is certainly vital to our survival in the modern world. As a creator, I went through an extreme phase of creativity block due to a financial crisis, to the extent that I had to change my job and do something irrelevant to my field of interest, but it fixed my money issue, and then my creativity came back.

Well, money has gotten to the stage where it is necessary for everyone. We can't live without it now, and whether you like it or not, you have to go after it.
And yes, there are problems we think money will be the solution, but looking at it a little deeper, we see that it's way more than that.
We just need to have a clear mind, so we know the difference.

Exactly. Desperation is a very fiesty motivator to cross limits you normally wouldn’t. Most loan organizations leverage on this to make their profits off of people by giving them very high payback interests because they know they must be out of choices if they’re contacting them.

Lol I can completely relate to using a lack of money as an excuse for most of my problems because people wouldn’t be able to understand that the real problem is simply what it is.

I feel that this is because we live in a shallow world, there are problems we wouldn't even be able to solve it we owned everything in the world. But for people to just let us be, we blame it all on money. It's a phenomenon these days.

Deep down we really don't know what people go through on a daily, or the battles they fight in secret.
I never knew you dropped out of school- not that I expected you to tell me or anything😅. But it just goes to show how people go through struggles.

I have been in situations that made me think of questionable ways to make money and I am grateful to God and friends for holding me steadfast in that period.
Life can be very challenging, we might never see the importance of some hardships that we go through. The results only show in the future when they have shaped us into better and wiser versions of ourselves.

This was a very insightful writeup!

Yeah, there are people who battles things silently. I like to share my story because I think it's a process of check and balance for me, also I like to use my stories to motivate others, and to relay the impression that anyone can be what they are and also be what no one expects. Thanks for coming through.
