Here's Why I don't love "The Love Of My Life"

IMG_4867.jpeg

I'm an easygoing person on the surface, one person who reminds me of myself is @ksam; Slow poison on the outside, fast poison on the inside. Baba knows everything inside out. I call him our engaged single friend because he knows everything there is to know, yet he seems so simple and ignorant of anything. @ksam likes to hang around women.

I remember the first meetup we attended in Lagos, he was just smiling at the ladies, of course, I would prefer he did that, but he was doing it so stylishly from the corner of his eyes, it was like a smooth criminal. Of course, it takes a criminal to recognize another smooth criminal, and this is why I want to tell you this story.

I like hanging around women when I was in school, and this was simply because that gender (the merciful ones) can give you their last money when they see you as their good buddy. I remembered being chased out of class by this professor.

That morning, two of my favorite female classmates had an accident and they came to class bleeding from the knee and face. (A beautiful mess I must say) I jumped out of my seat and went to help them, while the class was going on. The professor saw me and walked me out of class.

IMG_0447-02.jpeg

They literally held me down for this picture, it was a kidnapped shot.

I didn't mind, I helped them get their parents and they went to the hospital. After this incident, these two started buying me things. If I indicated that my ulcer pain was getting bad, they fill my belly with junk food and invite me to their hostels for a proper meal.

Of course, I did their assignments and whenever my male classmates saw their assignments, they'd be like "This is Joseph's handwriting", I practically did the assignment of many decent girls in school and in return, they gave me good food, and called me "my love" a lot of our tutors were beginning to imagine if that was my birth name was "my love" unless they check my matric number.

Anyway, I was out sick, I had female students who recorded the classes for me, did my assignments, and conducted my projects. I enjoyed this status. Until the tag "my love" became too annoying. Even the old women selling food in school were calling me "my love". It became irritating, but I just had to always smile uncomfortably and moved on. One day, I called one of my female classmates and asked her to stop calling me "my love" She said why? I told her because she doesn't love me, and I didn't love her either.

She said of course, but the name was cute and she'd keep calling me that. I asked her what she called her original boyfriend. She said "My love". I began to imagine, why are women so complicated. Of course, I enjoyed all the attention, care, and food. I remembered this lady who her boyfriend confronted her for calling me her love. The told him not to worry, that she didn't love me. It was a huge and expensive joke, but after a while, I would hear people scream my name from afar whenever I'm going to class.

They'd be like "Josssseeeephhh, my love, I'm sorry I don't love you" then I'd reply, "My little piglet, I don't love you too" It was so amazing, sometimes, I'd laugh out my lungs, and even people who are passing by would join in the laughter.

IMG_1012-01.jpeg

They were amazing. How do you call someone your love and still tell them you don't love them? I enjoyed the clarity by the way. It was like an ironic situation. Normally a sane person could easily read the "bro code-ness" I had with these ladies.

There were easy to convince. Women are prone to suggestibles especially when they feel indebted to you. I made sure I did them favors and they in turn rendered me bigger favor. I couldn't do so with my male colleagues. They were difficult to convince. All I did was do the girls some favors and call them sweet names like "sweet potato" "vanilla strawberry" and "fine angel" and they could give you half of their kidney.

But one thing a lot of guys I knew couldn't do was to keep a formal relationship with females, I did this excellently well. I was probably the laziest student in the class, but it wasn't my fault, I was constantly out sick, sometimes two weeks, sometimes 3 weeks and I needed them to do my school work for me at all times. I wasn't entirely a dull student, so it was easier for them to want to have this platonic relationship where everyone gets to establish a win-win situation.

We did it excellently well by taking advantage of what most people would never do. Apart from the whole comic aspect of this personal life story. The moment of realization for me is that I did what I had to do to survive difficult situations, I couldn't cope with the demands of being a student, but I was a fighter and I achieved what I wanted.

I say the same as you, why do you call someone my love without loving them? In my country, it's very common to call someone that and it doesn't seem logical to me, because when you go to tell the person you love your love, they won't believe you😅🤣.

Yeah, there are people who are used to doing that. It's true that it creates a lot of confusion 😁😁, but that's the way some people call others and create that confusion

Apparently, "my love" is different from "my love." Only ladies can comprehend this manner of life. But I digress...

What I can see everywhere are bunches of women. Bro Joe, I fear you. 😄

Jokes aside...there really isn't anything like having good people by one side. You all were food to one another.

Your real love might not even become your love anymore if they realized that someone else is calling you their love. Hahaha apparently it's only women that understand how these things work. Hahaha.

All of them were my "love"

Of course, there aren't a lot of people who you can apparently depend on in times of need. It's always a beautiful feeling to have that.

At least it bought you the win-win benefits.

Hahaha, you had fun in your school days 😂😂. Strategically killing two birds with one stone. "My love" can have different meanings and only women understand all of them.

Killing two birds with one stone was always the idea hahaha and strategically I got to achieve it. It was fun like you spotted hahaha

I can´t do that oo. Calling a guy, my love when I don´t love him 😂😂
but you did fight and achieved your aim.
Well, the word "my love" is now used by everybody jokingly. Some would take it seriously if you do not make them realize on time that you do not literally mean it, while others just take it as if nothing is wrong with it, he or she is just a friend and no strings attached.
Now I know the other side of @ksam, a womanizer? 😄

a womanizer?

Na wa oooooo

Well there are women who don't even mind at all. They just call all their male friends "baby", this is because that's how they are, and in Nigeria, we have categorically bastardized the word baby. We call in for fun nowadays and it holds no meaning anymore. I'm glad I achieved my aim.

Those words holds no meaning again as they are now used anywhere and anyhow.

Girls are dramatic, hehe. I am imagining the way they would customise the “my love”

I asked her what she called her original boyfriend. She said "My love".

There is a difference between the two words even though the spellings are the same thing. Trust me.

It is a nice thing to have friends that would be there for you. It is a win win situation tho.

All I did was do the girls some favors and call them sweet names like "sweet potato" "vanilla strawberry" and "fine angel" and they could give you half of their kidney.

Just take easy.. joeeesssssppphhh… our love.

Yeah of course I know the difference hahaha, it's just that the word has been bastardized these days, almost everyone uses it on anyone they please these days. It's truly nice to have such people around.

The old women were probably using it as your second name.👀 At least you didn't have the non-binary guys calling you "my love" too as a nickname.😅

No no, in Nigeria, it's hard for a man to call another man that. We consider it extremely disturbing and weird, in my case it was anyone women, of all ages hahaha.

It's the same thing in South Africa; anyone who identifies as a male would find it very disturbing. 😅

The Maths is not Mathsing oooo
That's how they easily get Bestie.... I don't know how people dey get their Besties eeehn... as I dont even have or can cope with a "Best Friend"... Like best out of all.... I dont think so

and they could give you half of their kidney.

God when?
Chai.... This superpowers no be here ooooo

but I was a fighter and I achieved what I wanted.

Mr. Lover, not every woman will hear the name sweet potato and so on. Some of them will hear those sweet names and pretends to love but they are just there for their own profit. Women don't go or do what they don't benefit from. I loved it most when you cared for and loved women as they all paid you back in a good return.

How amazing 😅. But wait a minute, did the lecturer see the injured ladies? He wasn't supposed to be so indifferent towards the situation na.

Anyways, I like the tactic you employed to survive college. Would this work on the guys too? 😅. I'm asking for a friend 😂.

The lecturers saw the injured ladies, but lecturers in Nigeria can be insensitive, the biggest devils you'll ever come across. I guess the man just ignored because it's in their nature not to care about anyone.

Men are more rigid people, they're not as easily convinced as a woman would, unless they're truly close to you. I'm not saying having a female friend is easy. All I'm saying is, when you do have them as friends, they can be really amazing.

Then I must say that you had really tough lecturers.

Alright. I'd keep this in mind.

Although I find it very hard to call someone I do not love "my love" but I'd do every good thing within my means for a person (male or female) who treats me right.

It can be very sweet to be popular among women but the advantages continue if you keep getting on their good side always. Yes! Even some women will call you the sweetest name alive without meaning it but any small disrespect or if small breeze blew you from being platonic with them, it'll result in future violence and embarrassment.

The definition of words changes from person to person but I don't think it's logical to call someone you don't really love as "my love". There were both advantages and disadvantages to being in your situation. I guess in a way, other than the mental stress, it was a win-win situation like you said.

Haha really it's was a win-win situation. I did established my aim and that was typically what I cared about the most. We're used to the emotional damage here hahaha
