Culture

There's a few things you can always pay for when it comes to building awareness for your community / business.

You can always spend money on advertising!

From traditional social media, to creative offline campaigns, there's always way to speed up your brand and get it in front of others. Heck, I've made a living doing just that. Spent small fortunes on advertising and marketing campaigns, but there is something even more effective that cannot be bought.

The culture of a community.

I'm going to share my observations about what is taking place right in front of us on @leofinance and how the culture is being built right before our eyes. And this cannot be understated enough, this is what matters! Sure marketing and advertising is vital, and out of all the projects on the blockchain, I believe $LEO is one of the most effective, but building a culture cannot be...Purchased.

Over the past few weeks, let's go over some terms that you may be familiar with...

  • Black, Brown and White Lions

  • Threadcasts

  • Threadstorms

  • Containers

  • Wen Soon

  • Ser

  • Feet pics for Khal

  • The CryptoHolics

  • The CryptoManiacs

  • Zealy

  • Heck, I'm even trying to start my own with '40 = 1'

All of these terms or at least the majority of them, might sound foreign to people outside of the Threads community. But what we are seeing is a culture being developed in front of our eyes.

Relationships are being built. Our own slang is being developed. And none of this can ever be 'purchased'.

O.K., full disclaimer. I'm a little bit of a $LEO fan boy. So yes, I'm obviously painting this project is a wonderful light. But I truly believe it's deserved. Because these are the hardest things to create online. Over the past 20 plus years of my life, I've been working to build community. Some things have gone great, others not so well....

But the constant was a group of like minded people, working together something bigger than themselves.

You see, Leo as a whole and Threads specifically have the potential to change everything we have come to know about social media. The announcement of LeoAds earlier today cements that for me more than ever before. But what is being built NOW, by the early adopters is so important.

It's a tribe.

It's a clique.

You are a part of something here, and it's so early in it's existence.

And what makes $LEO so unique is something I have mentioned before. There really isn't an inner circle in LEO. The whales on LEO, want to see YOU succeed. They want to spread the tokens out. And you can see that because the culture is growing and is being adopted by so many around the world.

You don't need a secret handshake to get involved, you just need to show up and put in the work. This is why the culture of LEO is so exciting for me, as it's being built....We are all a part of this bright future.

I know I'm missing a lot of examples, but all you have to do is spend a short amount of time within the Threads community and you'll see what I mean.

Again, the culture of LEO can never be purchased. It's not something you can download from the app store. This has to be created by a community of passionate and early adopters, and it's happening.

I can't help but think, things are about to get very exciting in this community. And that's thanks to you, for building this culture!

You do seem to have a knack for building community. And you're right. I think community is why I feel comfortable with Hive as a long term investment of my time. I don't fear it getting sold, acquired, or having management change things up suddenly. The core value is the the community and the shenanigans we get up to.

That cannot be said enough, there are no rug pulls here. It makes you feel like your time and energy is well spent!

LEOAds would be a good opportunity for many marketers and the promoters who want their blogs outside or projects outside to be promoted under this portal. It'd be really a good option for anyone who want to discover the value out of this blockchain. I feel we are now ready to compete with mainstream, all we need is the userbase which does that impact.

I think once people 'get it' and understand what is being built here, the flood gates will be open!

I am not so knowledgeable about the leofinance but it is something I would like to spend my time reading and knowing how it works.

Hi @sydney27
I read your blog about losing your account.
There is a tool called account recovery which may help you.
This is the link:
https://tools.hivechain.app/recovery/
The webpage appears to be run by @arcange who is a witness and I believe he is trustworthy.
I suggest you contact him to learn more and/or read up on Account Recovery. Then try this link.
Good Luck!

LeoFinance and threads are quite amazing. The ad system looks quite good and I think it will be quite amazing to see how things work out.

Just wondering what is the 40=1 thing? I understand if it's 60 HBD = 1 HBD per month in savings but I don't understand.

Apparently it's not a 'thing' forever but 40=1 to me was, 40 views of a Thread equaled 1 $LEO in buy back.

Everything you say is beautifully true. But even better, we will see many more tribes and cliques adopting similar or different models. Similar interfaces to make life easier. Different goals to make life more interesting and enjoyable.

I also love your tribe, CTP, identifying itself as a swarm which is a great Hive reference. Bit more of a niche culture than Leo. But still a place to earn as we learn and grow.

I enjoy life in a multicultural city. Challenging at times. But always interesting and evolving. Leo, CTP, and the other Hive colonies are creating a multicultural society which I feel lucky to be part of. So thanks for your massive contribution to our new culture.

Yeah we wanted to attract the entrepreneurs from our community to Hive, and the CTP Swarm was the way we are trying to do it. Slowly but surely, people are coming over to the good side of the force.

Without a doubt, if you get a user to endorse a community, that is the best advertising you can achieve. That user will work for the community creating a synergy that will benefit everyone.

We can become the best advertisers and marketers, just by using this stuff and telling the world about it!

I've not noticed that aspect before. Building a community is important in the social media realm as it allows individuals to gather on a shared vision and work towards it. The approach that leofinance is taking with culture is amazing. People are getting used to the terms and using it frequently.

It's homegrown. Nothing is being forced. People are contributing and it's an awesome thing to be a part of!

The thing about community is that it gives social media staying power in ways a random but potentially large crowd alone cannot.

I'm hopeful that LeoFinance will not only go far as its own community, but also serve as inspiration for others to create similar successes in their own ways.

It was always said, Hive needs like a dozen Leo's and Splinterlands. Once we have that, look out!!

Very good point in pointing out that the foundation of a community is its culture. The culture gives it an identity and differentiates itself from others. In the end, a feeling of belonging. Your observation is also true for non-digital communities. I never thought that culture is that important. It should be the focus in any community building. Thanks for an insightful article.

Absolutely. The culture of LEO can't be bought or downloaded. It's being created by a passionate and pioneering community of users, and it's happening right now. So let's keep contributing and building this incredible culture together.

I couldn't figure out how to get Threadstorms to work. I am going to be interested to see how things shake out when they start adding the post views into the mix and upvote based on that. I can see people using services to artificially boost their post visits. I hope they have something in place to combat that.

I've been messing with them, just a larger 'thread' with multiple entries.

Is there a special button you have to click?

Nah, just add things like 1/5 if your threadstorm is 5 threads long. then for each thread in the storm, 2/5, 3/5, 4/5, 5/5 etc.

Ah, so you have to add that manually. That's what I was missing!

I am unfamiliar with the Black, Brown and White Lions. What’s that about and who are these groups?

It was the 'armies' that we part of the end of the adoption campaign on Zealy.
