A Vision...
The reception that we've been getting for ListNerds so far has been....Remarkable!
Like I've mentioned in previous posts, we thought we would have to introduce the blockchain community to the site and have them slowly jump on board. Our feeling was, our target audience (the online entrepreneurs and affiliate marketers) would embrace it on day one....
However about 6 weeks since launch, the opposite is true. The blockchain has embraced it, while the marketers have been slowly coming onboard.
I wanted to lay out our big vision for this platform but to do this, we need to go back in time...
So I wrote this book in 2007...And to this day it's the best selling book in it's niche on Amazon.
Truth me told...The reason why it's the best selling book is because to this day it's the only published book in this niche lol
Why?
My passion back then was in this little known marketing tool called 'traffic exchanges'.
The idea was pretty straight forward. I look at your website, you look at mine. If I wanted to sit around for 10 hours and look at websites, I'd get about 10 hours worth of people looking at mine.
'Free traffic' came at a price though, it was super low quality and not targeted at all. Sure, you could get your hit counters flying (remember those?) but being able to target specific audiences was tough because of 2 reasons:
As popular as they were back then, they weren't adopted by mainstream online marketers, so they were frowned upon.
The majority of the audience was in the 'make money online' niche.
This caused a fundamental flaw in their design, however savvy marketers figured out how to use these tools to build their mailing lists and promote their brands within them.
Still, I always thought....What if?
What if we had a membership that wasn't measured in a few hundred active users, but the tens of thousands?
How could we categorize the websites in rotation, so that people would actually view sites that interested them. Not that same old , same old...
That concept has intrigued me for years because, I love discovering new websites and think there is a massive market for this but it needs to be done right.
@blainjones and I called this new dream of ours 'content discovery networks' rather than the old traffic exchange brand. Our idea was to create a network of sites (or blogs) where members actually WANTED to view more sites rather than feeling like they had to, in order to get something in return.
What has happened....Partly by design but also because of Hive is....ListNerds has become one of these 'content discovery networks'.
Now...Currently the user base is small. One look at the open rates and you can see, we have a lot of growing to do. And we also seem to have 2 categories being formed in the content that is being delivered in ListNerds:
- Make money online
- Check out my Hive blog post
This is actually light years ahead of any other platform that resembles ListNerds in the industry because, none of them have gotten away from that old' traffic exchange model of...I don't really wanna be here, but I have to so you check out my website or offer!
And there is the potential and big vision for ListNerds!
We see a future where this platform will cater to multiple niches and passionate community members.
Wanna see just finance and crypto news? Check off the categories and that's the content you will receive.
Would you like to see posts about pets? No problem, ListNerds will deliver it!
How about for your foodies out there? ListNerds will have a passionate group of creators showcasing their favorite dishes.
And yup, if you wanna learn about some make money online opportunities, you can even check off a box for that.
And why will this work?
Because members are not only incentivized for discovering new blogs posts and websites, they are incentivized for also showcasing theirs as well.
Imagine that....
A community of passionate people, discovering sites that they have a genuine interest in WHILE being rewarded!
And that same community can be rewarded for sharing their favorite sites and blogs to others AND be rewarded as well!
It's funny when I read those last two sentences out a few times....
This was always the vision of what a 'traffic exchange' could become. But rather than 'exchanging' traffic...We are now sharing it!
We hope you share in the vision we have for ListNerds! It's been an amazing 6 weeks so far but we have so much more growth to come :)

It took a while for sure, but I think what we dreamt about over a decade ago, is finally here.

I would love to promote my posts and grow my followers using listnerds. I know I haven't been very active in the last few days, but I think this is a great tool to help you grow inside and outside HIVE. That would be my vision.
I think those that really do embrace it and use it as a tool now, will be very happy with the results down the road!
I have sent only 1 Mail so far and I am already loving the experience. One of my other blogs was shared by other nerds and it got so much of activity within a day. Listnerds is awesome. I will be happy to see those categories live. Right now I pick only on the basis of the Subject of the mail.

I think that is a great vision. I tend to skip most of the "make money online" stuff I see (click link then leave) and I would prefer to see more blog posts. It seems like the best place to get more eyes on your project because people are willing to at least visit the site though.

Marketers really shouldn't be sending 'make money' links...They should be sending them to a blog post so that potential customers can get to know them...But alas, that'll be a tough nut to crack as they are stuck in their ways LOL

I have dealt with traffic exchanges in the time and they actually helped me to promote my faucet lists when nobody knew about bitcoin or crypto. Now I tend not to touch these websites anymore. It's so refreshing to see what posts people share on listnerds. There is actually stuff that I want to read !!! It would be great to have a bigger user base so as to be able to categorize mails and get more targeted visits.
That's where we need to step up and bring ListNerds out to more people...I believe the bigger the membership, the more opportunities at developing thriving niche communities within will happen.
I love the idea of segmenting by interests, there are some emails that do not interest me too much. I like to share interests, interact on my hive blog and have a win-win relationship with readers. In that Listnerds is helping me and I hope to continue like this.

So far I sent a whopping amount of 1 mail on Listnerds. It resulted in at least 2 more people liking and commenting my post, which is a nice start given that I post in niche subjects. Far from earning validated status for my mail yet. I would like to see your vision come through, topics would be nice to filter content.

I feel affiliate marketing and also the Airdrops and the initial user-base for any product or the site can be acquired through listnerds. It can be a good option in case of the marketers making use of it. I hope to see more use cases :)
Oh for sure...A great testing ground for people to get a feel for what works and what may not in their marketing.

With this system, I have a fear that users will try to maximize profit by reading mails as fast as possible, clicking links and leaving as soon as they ensure they earn the verification rewards, which means the conversions rate will decrease in the long term. Does ListNerds has a system to minimize that?

You bring up a point that I've battled with for decades now...
In my examples above, traffic exchanges always had timers. Which forced people to view the sites before they got credit in return. Which worked but made people feel like they had to be there.
Other models focused on the experience and trying to provide a platform where people actually wanted to be there because they enjoyed the content.
That's the aim for ListNerds. We want people to be there because they have an awesome experience. That being said, we will always look to improve and make sure everyone benefits, including the person whose site / blog is being promoted.
Found them, and I'm reading a few now. The experience is okay.~
Is there a way to send feedback to the creators of the mails? If there isn't, there should be. Some of the sites I was linked to feel very old to be appealing, one of them could be fixed with simple (one or two lines of CSS) change.
Anyway, I love the idea and hope it works out... This is still better than traffic exchanges, at least.

Content discovery is really missing both on Hive and in online marketing. The vision makes sense and I believe there's a strong demand for it.
I've always thought it just made sense...People love to discover new stuff, especially if it fits with their passions!
Solid vision! I'm constantly impressed with CTR but I haven't gotten one of my Mails verified yet. Getting better results with each one though!

Yeah the CTR is insane...The validation is tough for sure. We'll keep an eye on it and see how things go. We still want people to strive for it, to promote great content and engage with the community!

I love your vision. I think it is innovative and unique. The way that you have rewards set up for using List Nerds is very good for incentives. We will just have to see how it all goes. I have faith it is going to be a huge success.

Well, count me as one of those passionate people, ever since the words Listnerds wandered across my eyes, I've had a feeling of positive awesomeness about it. You have done something amazing here, thank you so much!
Other than consistently posting over the last five years on my Hive blog, I am definitely more of a person who likes to hang out in the background and observe what's going on, but your project drew me in and inspired me to take action, there's just something amazing about it, and the community engagement alone that Listnerds has brought to my world has been glorious.
I'm definitely more in the camp of "Check out my blog post" types, but I click through and read everything because I love to support and upvote things that I believe add or bring value to the community. There is something so inherently satisfying about the entire platform, how it works, and what it provides. My vision is to figure out my niche and be a positive, supportive force along for the Listnerds growth ride, because a project this cool is going to bloom!

Outstanding post Jon. I have been thinking lately that some of the posts are not ones that I am particularly interested in but I check them out anyway. I think having categorized choices would be a fantastic enhancement to ListNerds as it grows. Imagine what the inbox is going to be like in 6 months. I think that your VISION is spot on!

Hive has really embraced it and I think that helps the content inside of ListNerds be unique than any other mailer out there :)
