Rising to the Occasion or Bowing to Pressure?

Happy Start of the Week HIVERS!

I'm coming into the week motivated and ready to crush goals left and right, but admittedly with a slight limp to add yet another challenge for me to try and brush aside and keep it on grind mode.

But as always, this community keeps me motivated and makes those challenges bearable, knowing that if you are on HIVE; you know what it it is to crush, grind and hustle 24/7!

I want to say the weekend was good. Saturday's workout was awesome and although the weather was shitty, Tiffany, her youngest son and I headed out to Deltona to celebrate my cousin's wife birthday and was able to spend time with a handful of family members - some I hadn't seen in years, which in itself is sad.

It's funny, how some things inevitably change; but some things never ever change - when it comes to family, for better or for worse.

I always feel proud when they now applaud my dedication, for my last 8 years; eating healthier and working out, because, they, being family; know my history and how the streets and situations that come along with them streets is not something they could have applauded.

It also brings memories of those we lost as seeing those that remain, how they have aged and the next generation of us are not too far off from where they are at and so forth, while seeing the younger generation running around - care free, as we know the life of ups and downs, they will face along the way.

I maintained activity on HIVE and pretty much nothing on the off-chain email marketing side of things and the huge dip in production began right after March 28th, so I'm not too bummed out about it and I was happy with my results for March, I just need to put in that normal push a few days this week; to get some more subscribers and it's no different than what I've done the last few months:

On a positive note, I'm very close to hitting 4000 staked LISTNERDS and continue to slimly hold the #1 spot on the rich list and it's really close now, as I'm sure @thisismylife is channeling Ludicrous as she is ready to knock me off that one slot:

With all that said, I'm very proud of everything that has happened; since ListNerds came on-chain and it became a crucial vehicle for me to amp up my personal brand, community interaction and value.

The easy part, was going all in and now it's about maintaining that momentum; which is always the challenge. I'm not going anywhere, I'll put in the effort.

Four days into April and I'm already facing a few challenges that will make this month a challenging one for me. I'm a couple of months from turning 56 and I feel much better with my breathing, although I still struggle tasting things; but overall - I believe, I'm only slightly dealing with any COVID long-term effects; but not enough to hinder me anymore. Tiffany, is still behind on that; but there are some signs she is inching her way back to feeling like herself.

It hasn't stopped us from working out and although we have missed a few more days than we have had last few years; the passion to workout is still there. The eating has been a mind screw, because during the dreaded 2 weeks of COVID; I barely ate and Tiffa struggled badly fighting to find taste and it seems like when we finally were COVID free, the search for those tastes again - threw us off our game.

But, we continue our running events participation and doing the high intensity interval training sessions, while Tiff cut back a day more than me as; I make sure to do 5 to 6 days a week and Tiffa is at about a 4 to 5 day clip. We were religiously 6 out of 7 days without fail for many years before the pandemic put a kibosh on our consistency. We did well the first year of the pandemic as we did the HIIT from home sessions and did a lot of running.

Then came the symptoms, the ordeal and the toll it took on our bodies and so forth.

I don't believe, we have given up. I've spent each day after recovery, fighting like hell to get back to where I was before all of it. To add insult to injury, I pulled a hamstring and so that was another challenge to fight through.

For the last 2 months, I've been back to my beast mode level. Tiffany and I have participated in a few running events and we are still trying to get back on track on the more healthier eating route. I mean we are not eating fast food or doing stuff like that, but we are not being as strict with our patterns. Eating healthy is a science and we track our food and all that comes with tracking, meal planning, etc.

That has fallen a bit to the wayside in terms of consistency. I do it for like 5 days and kind of not follow through with it as much during the weekend.

We'll get back on track. I always see the new month as a fresh start towards that.

I'm now dealing with a new injury and not too concerned about it:

FOOT.JPG

It's around the ankle area, but it's not hindering my mobility; as I had a great workout this morning. That picture is from yesterday, when I rested it all day; with an ankle brace and ice pack. I did feel my hamstring bark a bit this morning during the treadmill run, but I think it's more, because of putting less pressure on one side (the ankle) and putting a bit extra pressure on the other leg (where I had the hamstring injury); but did fine - I'll expand on the workout on my @actifit post later on today.

Now, I am going to keep my workout schedule this week; because Saturday is another running event and we'll just do the 5K. I prefer the 10K, but it's all good. We love the cause and the medals they provide every year

I don't want to miss more than the rest day on Wednesday, because I need to keep my endurance and stamina in tact and for myself, taking more than one day off; will set me back.

Tiffany and I have a good five years of solid running and are looking forward to adding those medals after Saturday's run:

Consistency, effort and showing up everyday is engrained in my mental and for every injury during my health and fitness journey or for every obstacle during my online marketing journey or even in my HIVE journey; I am not letting anything stop me:

I don't know how to stop.

Sorry you have injured your ankle Jimmy, but great to hear it's not serious enough to hinder your workout, and keep going with Listnerds and topping that list, and stay !ALIVE

I'm not going anywhere, I'll put in the effort.

I believe you😊

And reading about both of your recoveries is aiding me in mine. I was in the gym, lifting and running three miles every other day, and then I got hit with COVID and two other things all in a 12 hour period. The last ten weeks have not been fun. But I have still showed up, and it helps so much to know we're all not alone.

I'm sure you and Tiffany understand the feeling like deflated crap for weeks after part. Your honesty and sharing of your journey, the challenges and victories, is just so awesome. Hope that ankle feels better quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Thanks for always getting after it @jimmy.adames!

LOL, now don't worry, I'm not even thinking about that as that would mean you'd be offline for a bit, or miss a few days of verification, with your health and dedication, I don't see that happening anytime soon :)

I think it's more likely that I will be offline for a bit when I move to Spain :)

But it feels like it was just yesterday when you hit 3k, and now, tomorrow, you will hit 4k. Amazing how fast it goes with the compounding interest, isn't it?
Congrats from me, in case I can't respond tomorrow!!!

Hopefully, that ankle won't give you too much trouble!!! Take care Jimmy!

Glad you got to see some of your family. So sorry your ankle is hurt. Make sure it is completely healed before you stress it again; otherwise, you can make it worse. I know this from personal experience.

I'm a couple of months from turning 56 and I feel much better with my breathing, although I still struggle tasting things;

I never would have thought you were 56, you look very good for your years. People often peg me much younger than I am (44), I figured the beard would help me look older, but no.

Our family got COVID in November last year, it was pretty epic going through a household of eight people. My wife got sickest, but we got through it with no visits or hospital assistance. I lost my sense of smell COMPLETELY for several weeks, but it eventually returned.

Then we got COVID AGAIN early last month, much easier the second time. My sense of smell didn't go away but was pretty much rekt. It's been 10 days now since I recovered and still, even now, some of my favorite herbal scents and flavors smell horrible. I can't drink Pepsi because it smells awful to me. It's sweet to the taste, but the aftertaste is wretched to me. I've been taking healing supplements to help recover my sense of smell.

Just out of curiosity, have you tasted any colas since struggling with your taste?

Sorry you and your family went through that @ironshield - personally, I haven't drank soda in years, but I do drink some carbonated water and Bang energy and ok with those. Where I struggle most is just food in general. There are times I just struggle to taste it. So I'll add hot sauce just to bring out some taste. Things like that. Salt of course. My fiancé who LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVES to eat salad, is currently and slowly getting back to eating some salad. COVID made her detest the smell of lettuce, etc.

Interesting, thanks for sharing that. We are hooked on LaCroix here, we drink it almost 2:1 with water! It's sort of an expensive way to remain hydrated, but we like the bublies. Odd that lettuce smells off - whatever this does to the sinuses, it's very peculiar.

It's too bad that you got hurt but just treat it as a nice little vacation. You might get to spend some more time online even if it's not as healthy or you can catch up on some sleep.

@jfang003 thanks, but this will not take me out. I’m still working out and I’m still scheduled to run the 5K on Saturday. I’m a glutton for punishment lol.
