My Low cut Game [LOH #190]

At certain points in our lives, we just have to make certain decisions regardless of what people or society thinks. It is called our “Life” for a reason and not another person’s life.

2️⃣ Some women cut their own hair not mainly to save money but because they find fun in doing it. Have you ever done it yourself? How did it turn out? Would you do it again?

Women cut their hair for different reasons and no matter how weird or ridiculous their reason may sound, it is valid to them and can mean a thousand things to them hence the reason they embark on such a daring journey that may or may not end well.

For the longest time that I can remember I have groomed my long hair and I have never for once cut my hair. My hair grew so long and stopped growing after some time and the best thing was to cut it off but I refused to do that because I was scared.

I had always wanted to cut my hair but I was too scared of what I’d look like. My fear stemmed from the fact that cutting my hair meant a done deal and there was no going back afterward. If for for any reason, it went wrong it would take a while for my hair to grow to a reasonable length again and the thought of that freaked me out.

Part of why I wanted to cut my hair so badly was because I have a low threshold for pain. The more people tried to comb or tried to part my hair the more I groaned in pain and the only reason why I tried not to cry was because I did not want to publicly embarrass myself so I only cried a river in my heart😂😂

I thought deeply about it, a woman’s hair is her beauty and not a catalyst for pain.

For someone who does not like to wear wigs braids are forever my go-to hairstyle and some of these braids were tantamount to PAIN. I would rather the hair stylist make me loosed braids that would get rough quickly to tight braids that could last for a long time.

Losing my braids and combing my hair was a complete torture, I’d brace myself up for the pain every single time and repeat the same process when I go to make new braids again and this was tiring. This cycle was tiring and I just wanted to let go of everything and have peace and that peace meant cutting my hair for good.

I got fed up last year December and I went straight to the barbing salon. After one of those painful episodes, I made the final decision.
The look on the barber's face when I told him I wanted to cut my hair was priceless, he hesitated before he started cutting my hair.

As my long hair fell to the ground I questioned myself for the last time if I was making the right decision and for the last time, I answered myself that I needed a break from all the long hair maintenance and hassle.

Being on low cut means less stress and easier maintenance of my hair and I am loving it.

It’s been six months of being on low cut and I feel good, I rock my low cut with so much pride and dignity. I am happy that it didn’t turn out to be hideous neither did I have to go through the constant painful episodes.

I do miss my long hair sometimes and I also think of all the cute hairstyles I could have made with my long hair but hey, I’m good and I am rocking my low cut until I get tired of it.
