Sublime Sunday - a nice walk up Corstorphine hill to avoid the hoards of glitter and sequins

Well, its been an odd weekend here in Edinburgh. Taylor Swift was in town playing the first three nights of her UK tour, Fri to Sunday. We live close to the venue and all we've seen this week end is Swifties covered in glitter and sequins ! To be fair, I dont mind her music.

I've had a fairly busy weekend, so this evening I made the effort to get out for a nice walk up Corstorphine Hill - just to enjoy the evening and get some relax-time.

Its quite nice here tonight - a warm 17 degrees C (which aint too bad for us).

I had a nice walk up through the trees. I was enjoying taking in the wildlife and the flowers. I saw quite a few birds (pigeons, crows and magpies mostly), a few grey squirrels and a deer. I was quite enjoying listening to the bird song which I could hear everywhere I went - very relaxing.

I'm also still enjoying seeing the rhododendrons which are out in bloom just now. I'm seeing them everywhere I go at the moment - but I love seeing them, so thats great !

I also caught this cool shadow on a tree trunk ! The light was shining perfectly on its branches and casting the shadow of its leaves onto the trunk. Quite cool indeed - nature is great !

I also stumbled upon the pond above up on the hill, which I've never seen before. It was a bit of a mess, but still nice to see. There was a lot of quarrying activity up on the hill over the years gone by, to supply stone for building in Edinburgh I guess, and it looks like this was one of the older quarry pits, that is now full with water.

I'm not quite sure how the guys got over to the other side to do the graffiti ! I dont mind good graffiti - but that looks a bit crap !

It was quite nice to see the fox gloves coming out as well. Although many people here consider them to be a weed, I really like them - I think they look fantastic.

I have to saw that it was lovely way to end the weekend. I had a nice wander up on the hill, got some exercise into the bargain, and also picked up a little bit of litter as well (my good deed for the day).

Well that rounds things up for this sunday. I hope you all had a great weekend too !

All the best from Edinburgh - cheers @hoosie

Haha, too funny. I thought they were having a parade for pride month or something. Taylor Swift is one of my absolute favorites.

Wow dear friend, looks like you had a peaceful Sunday stroll. I really like how you described the wildlife and scenery. I bet it's very refreshing to escape the hustle even if it's just for a little while. Have a great new week
