A monday walk around the botanic gardens

I'm working half days this week because my daughter is on Summer Break from High School, so that we can get out and do things in the afternoon.

This afternoon we took a walk around the botanic gardens here in Edinburgh.

The weather was stunning and we were getting treated to beautiful blue skies.

We found their bug hotel - I love the idea of these things.

Its a fairly big site and we just wandered around the various paths and didnt even get to see it all.

The tree above is about the biggest one on the site. Bloody massive !

I dont know what the proper name for the plant above is, but we call them Jurassic rhubarb. We used to have one of these at our old house - I absolutely love them. The grow pretty big - these were about 9 feet tall, and then die away each year.

They also had this interesting buddha statue/shrine.

There was also a cool scarecrow in the veg part.

There are also a couple of hot houses here, but they are currently closed for renovation, however, there is so much else to see that it wasnt really a problem.

It was also a good opportunity to test out the camera on my new phone (Samsung Galaxy A53 5G with 64MP camera) - seems to be doing the job better than my last phone !

My teenage daughter didnt complain about getting dragged around either which was also a bonus !!

It was great to wander around and soak up the sun. Very relaxing for a monday indeed. We'll have to see where the rest of the afternoons take us this week !

All the best from (unusually) Sunny Scotland !

Wow good friend, what a wonderful way to spend time with your daughter. That botanic garden looks pretty amazing, especially the Jurassic rhubarb.

What a beautiful landscape, it looks like something out of a fairy tale, the green looks very bright and everything is so clean and neat, I love it, what a nice walk 😍

You're also making the most of this brilliant weather! (Bit dismal today, but yesterday was pretty stellar. 😉) Botanical Gardens on my to-do list. I'll keep an eye out for the slightly petrified-looking scarecrow!
