Most times people tend to turn their back on anyone who does not have a similar view to them, to me I prefer to be the only man standing and standing for the correct thing than joining the multitude to do wrong. Though it is not an easy thing to have a separate!the view from anyone else.

Severally I have feared being rejected and at some point too it almost happened.

Those that follow my blog may somehow relate to what I want to say now. This happened for over 12 years now. It was time for me to choose a higher institution to attend after secondary school. I sat for Jamb two times already and the third time my brother asked me to apply to a school that's not in my geopolitical zone because he was doing his national service there. It was a thing of joy to me and I happily agreed to that.

Most of my senior friends did not agree with that saying that that was not my catchment area. Then I had a lot of friends. One thing I noticed when I left was, most of them stopped calling me. As a young girl that lives good friends, I had to look for ways to keep the friendships going. That was not so easy at all though at that point I didn't see anything wrong with that.

As time progressed it happened that I didn't get that admission and I had to seat for another Jamb which made it the fourth. When I came home most of my senior friends repeated what they told me. Deep within me I still had high hopes. This time I got the admission, and the story changed a little but the friends I had became so far from me. I kept on pushing and one day I stopped calling them so I will have some peace. I felt so pushed away and rejected because I went to a distant land.

One of the things that helped me out was, I found a fellowship that kept me busy too a branch of my home fellowship

Also, I began to make friends within my environment to help me forget the old ones who do not value me as much as I do them.

I began learning the language of the people and took them as my own. If you tell me from the beginning that I will later settle here I may not agree to that.

Dare to be different in what you do as long as you are not doing the wrong thing. If everyone should keep doing the same thing there means there will be no innovation. Innovation comes from the minds of those that have decided to do things differently from others.
