A Journey of 12 Hours Or Less Turned To 30 Hours

Back in the days when Ada was a girl hardly a full month pass without me embarking on a journey. Traveling was one of my hobbies because I like to see new places and interact with new friends. In the cause of time I had to naturally adjust my traveling spirit because before I travel I will have to put into consideration my convince, my children and that of husband. The stress of preparing for a journey gives me sleepless night because I will have to stock the freezer if I am going with the children, prepare their things and mine also. All these things just makes me tired of the whole thing.

In this post today, I will be sharing with you the most resent journey I took that left a mark with me

This happened like two years back, during the Easter Celebration I thought it wise to go visit my family since it was a while I visited and for them to familiarize with my son. The D-Day came, traveling from Nasarawa State to Abia State was a far journey though not too far. Before I got married I enjoyed night journey a lot because when we travel through the night I get to my destination in the morning to continue with other things since I already slept in the car.

Thinking the whole thing is the same I boarded a Luxurious Bus to the East. We left at about 6:30PM, when we got to Lafia it was almost 8:00PM. This bus was supposed to get to Lafia in less than hour but it kept spoiling and repairs took most of the time. Hmmm, getting to the Lafia park they resolved that we sleep over at the park since armed robbers are always at late hours. This was not funny at all, remember I was with a small child and pregnant again. I felt so inconvenienced but I had no reason to complain. The Bus was worked on over the night and we departed at about 4:30AM.

This bus will speed for 30 Minutes and crawl for 1 hour, this was how we continued till we got to Benue State. Of a truth they knew that this bus was not okay but reluctantly they where just managing it. We passed one place called Alade, we almost had problem with the villagers but God saved us. At about 4:00PM the next day our Tyre exploded, this time was the final stop. When we dropped I began to look for another why to continue my journey. Not to long I got another vehicle that was going towards my direction though I had to pay extra money 💰. That was fine, before I got home that day it was almost 10PM.

My husband was worried, my boy was so stressed, but thankfully he was not crying that much because I made sure I bought snacks that kept him busy through the journey.

When I got home that day, it was as if I was given 50 strocks of Cain, my whole body was paining me, see my little baby inside. A woman close to me was surprised when I told her I was pregnant, she was like, you are strong ooo as I was more active than most people in the vehicle.

That journey left me with some lessons

  • Everything is not all about money. Yes, I was thinking I was going to save some money by traveling by night but I ended up spending more
  • Not every risk you should put children through, my son was so stressed because of my unwise decision, my brothers was like, next time if you want to travel by night, take only yourself.
  • Not everything is to be managed: Most transportation companies in Nigeria don't see the need to maintain their vehicles rather they prefer to manage peoples life together with the vehicle.

Hope you enjoyed reading my post today? Thank you for coming around. This is my entry for the hive learner's contest week 87 edition 2.

Happy Mid-week

WOW 😲. We almost had the same experience. The journey of these days must be done in prayers if not so one will either enter the wrong car of the wrong hands on the road.
Thanks for sharing

We should prioritize our comfort and our money. It was a long journey you made among villagers. With one baby and pregnancy, a journey is not always easy. You should be careful for your next trip.
