Hit me with your best shot!

If there is a difficult theme, this theme is it! It's almost impossible for me to look at my own photos and think, "This is IT", this is THE photo to submit. I have favorite photos in multiple branches of photography. But more than anything, I have of course been a dog photographer first and foremost. And my own dogs have always been my top models. Not only that, they showed me the way to many other dogs who were allowed to pose for my camera. So this week in the theme "Hit me with your best shot", I'm going to send in a dog photo between all the beautiful various photos.

Maybe I sound like a broken record

Original? Maybe not. I do have other photos… but none of those other photos have the same emotional meaning for me. Landscapes are beautiful to see, it is an art if you manage to capture them well. But I rarely find the landscapes I've photographed really special. Probably because they are all photos from my own environment, and I know that environment like the back of my hand. That no longer has such a “WOW factor” for me. If I ever have the opportunity to explore new places, yes, then there will undoubtedly be another photo that will be added to the list of “Best Shots” at that time. And where after some time perhaps the shine for me goes off again.

Precious memories

Photos that have not lost their shine to me over time are all photos of my dogs. And certainly since Rowan's death, these photos have only become more precious. And I love them more and more. They let me relive the beautiful hours we spent together in nature. When I look at these photos, I relive these free moments. The moments when I walked around nature with Rowan and Myla, playing. The days when I got into my car and explored new places with them.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Rowan was much more than just a dog. He was my psychologist, he was my best friend. It was thanks to him that I rediscovered my love for photography. It was because of Rowan that I wanted to live again.

Never alone again

I was always bullied in my youth. That has created a huge lack of confidence, and even a certain fear of having to do things alone. When I had Rowan, I was never alone again. He made me stronger, and made me face reality. Now you may think, any dog could have done that. And maybe it is, I don't know. It was Rowan who came into my life at the right time, and it has been Rowan with whom I have had the most special bond of all the dogs in my life. The memories of the eleven years that I had the honor to be his owner are deep in my heart. Each photo carries a smile of remembrance. It is quite true… Many good memories soften the sorrow. Rowan is gone from us forever but always in our hearts.. It is quite true… Many good memories soften the sorrow. Rowan is gone from me forever, but always in my heart.

I miss Zeus.
Mr flatsak was awesome.

This guy... Wild. Stubborn. And willfully with a personality.

I can imagine, they're all special in their own way. But sometimes you have that special bond with one dog, and that makes it even more difficult when you have to let them go.

Thanks Wes, very much appreciated! Yup, I like photography in general. Love various types of photography. I would prefer to control everything. But dog photography and animal photography, that's what I excel at.

Rowan is the white German Shepherd in the pictures. Myla is the Malinois. And I still have her with me. She's 13 now.

Thank you for stopping by and the curation. Much appreciated!
