Navigating Injustice: Tales from the Workplace

There are some phases of life when we feel injustice, sometimes it's for ourselves and sometimes it's for others. In today's world, everyone is running after money, and that is one of the major reasons for injustice. The second reason is the addiction to power. Power comes with great responsibilities, but most people ignore them and try to use power for personal gain. The workplace is a common area where we see injustice happening to many people. People work hard to complete projects and even sacrifice many things, but when it's time for appreciation, it's the bosses who receive it all. This is very common, and I have witnessed it many times around me. There are some people who work for a living, and there are some who live for work.

There was a guy in our office who, after completing his master's in engineering, had worked in other MNC companies before joining ours. He was very sincere and hardworking. If you gave him a task, he would take full responsibility and cross-check every aspect before declaring it finished. Having a good grasping power was a big advantage for him, which comes with being interested in the work. I also had a chance to work with him. I assigned some tasks, and he completed them well within time and with full efficiency. It's very rare to find such a person, and he was always very calm; I never saw him lose his temper.

My manager also knew his capabilities, and here is where the main story starts. As I mentioned, he was very sincere and obedient, and the manager took advantage of this. He started putting extra workload on him, even more than his capacity. He even started transferring his own work to him, which led to delays in his own assignments. To complete the tasks, he started overstaying at the office, usually spending almost three extra hours daily, and he was not compensated for it. All day, he spent time completing his manager's tasks, and after normal hours, he started working on his own assignments.
I felt very bad for him, but there was nothing in my hands. I tried to console him, but I got the sense that he was very afraid of the manager and very possessive about his job. There may be many reasons for this.

I do not know what happened afterwards as I got transferred to another location as per my personal request but that guy is still working their as per my knowledge. The work exploits is common in India and it is like if someone is going good then transfer all work load on him. This create the unbalance and the demotivate the employees. The work life balance is must to get best output form employees.
