Misty Mountain Maples

This post is about the part of my job where I participate in seed harvesting. Mostly for tree nurseries and reforestation.
This time was about picking seeds from Maple trees during late summer 2023.
How I love this job!
Taking care of our environment, climbing up large and high trees, being up in the tree tops and swing with the canopy in the wind.
So fantastic to find myself in nature and dense forests.
And it's an absolute privilege to have permission to access by car and sleep in the forest though some are national parks.
Feels like being a ranger.

Also, encounters are different if you work in the forest.
Happy hiking peeps who enjoy the green wonders wonder about us and our doings. They stop and most of them watch us for some time. They greet and some even ask what we are doing.
For them it's probably rare to see a couple of cars in the middle of the forests, find bright colourful ropes tighten around trees,

bags full of seeds, and a dog which we had with us this time. He was always guarding his owners tree while the owner was up in the tree top.
We explain happily what we do to the people with a question mark hoovering over their heads.
I like to have fun while doing so, messing with them and tell them ridiculous stories, like, helping retired squirrels to collect food for winter or that we hug tree tops all day long for a better environment.
Most of them believe it ^_^
But we never leave them with that kibosh. Although, I believe that hugging trees ensure a better environment. If it's for the trees or for yourself, find out by yourself 😉

Now, just enjoy some nice pictures I found during that session.

Ask me anything you'd like to know about trees, tree climbing, ropes, knots or what ever is related to that topic.
I'd love to feed your curiosity as much as I can.
Because I tree care! 😉

It's amazing the type of jobs you get up to. I would never guess picking seeds from maple trees is a job. Who is the employer? And do they collect the seeds for preservation or replanting?

Love the little jokes you tell the hikers, I would probably believe you ad well 😀

Haha, yepp, that's a real job. I needed time to get it, too.

The employers are tenants, landlords or huntsmen. Depends on who is responsible for the part of the forests, what are the population (what grows) in /on the parts and what are the interests of the owner. Another factor are some laws, like reproduction laws for forests. Short; if you own part/s of certain forest/s you have duties to obey.
Ownership = responsibility.
But I don't know exactly those laws and the duties' tasks.

It's both and beyond.
The collected seeds go to nurseries and they do preservation, replanting, reafforestation and, if I remember well, you can also buy some of the crops for private use, like house or garden plants.

Wouldn't it be nice if, for example, the story of the squirrel were true? 😆

Thanks for your comment.
Could I give you answers to your questions?

Hi there, a-mazin-g tree man. 😇

I vaguely remember you mentioned this activity you did when we talked in real, or maybe you didn't. I am not sure, but it sounds so familiar. For sure, I didn't know how beautiful it was!

Aloha @mipiano,
I can't remember either.
But happy to read that you see it as a beautiful activity as I do.

Lovely greetings from Yucatán, from Lluna & me 👋🏽💕👋🏽
