My church alarm failed me

I pride myself as a punctual lady, if I have an event at 10 am, I have to be there at least 30 minutes ahead, it helps me to feel more relaxed before the event starts, and also helps me study my environment especially if its a first-time visit, and if it is an examination or an interview, you already know you do not have to be late. but any moment It gets beyond me, probably something unforeseen happened that made me late, it doesn't always end well, I remember arriving at a class late when the lecture was already in progress, this time it was truly beyond me, I had a runny stomach and had to be sure it has subsided before leaving the hostel, I should have just stayed back because time wasn't on my side anymore, but Mr. Dickson class wasn't one to be absent from, apart from his character is a literal meaning of his name, he takes his class attendance serious like it is a pass to enter heaven, it may not get you into heaven, but it can get you away from 20 marks, so you see why I had to take this late adventure. I have tried my best not to get noticed by this man as he also has a funny and annoying name for anyone who crosses him,

I arrived and he was fully immersed in his lecture on why we should not think the way we are, what we know to be what they seems to be, incase I forgot to mention it, it was a Psychology class and it was torture on the brain most times, i did the sign of the cross, hoping this will give me the power of invisibility, walked in gently, the rule was not to disrupt an ongoing lecture with your greeting or he walks you out, my eardrums were fully alerted while I walked down the end of the hall as the front and middle seats were already taken, thinking perhabs the cross sign did the magic and I was truly invisible, I was about to breath a sigh of relief and take a sit, when echoed with the microphone he hardly uses, even when student complain of not hearing him at the back sit, "Miss mouthstache, can you repeat what I said in the last one minute you entered my class" WAIT, he said mouthstache, no I didn't have a mouthstache, maybe the few strands on my chin, nature gift from my grandmother to me, and I was the only one that walked in the two minutes stated, I stood up, oh, you thought the one minute my ear was alerted, i was listening to him, no, i wasn't, maybe I was but not to what he was actually saying but to hear him call me out the moment i walked in or while i was walking, so I stood up and stayed mute, and that was how I remained till the end of the class, also earning my self a nickname I don't like.

As a mother and a more responsible adult, i"m always conscious of being punctual, and this ha led to some punctuality accident, is that the right word, i'm not sure, but lets continue, I worked all through saturday night, and didn't have the chance to rest until evening maybe 4pm, just me and my first daughter at home, all my devices are down, as I woke up, the church behind my house, started their program as it was their usual routine every morning around 5am, and they were singing 'good morning Jesus , good morning lord' I quickly got out of bed to prepare my daughter for school, saying a short prayer, I entered my kitchen to boil rice, she will eat as breakfast and also take some to scholl to school, she was still fast asleep, and they were still yet to restore power, I assumed it will be 6, as I dont have a wall clock, and lazy to check my wrist watch, I am already used to the church behind my house as my alarm, so I woke her up, bath and prepped her in her school uniform, but she was still sleepy the whole time, and i'm like haven't you had enough sleep, I dished her breakfast, waiting for the day to brighten up, just then, light was restored, i hurried to charge all my devices, my phone came on first and I saw 1:30am staring right back at me, oh no! my church alarm failed me this time. lol, they must be having a revival program,

I covered my face in shame, for disturbing my daughter's sleep, and told her she could go back to sleep for a few hours, I guess she was shocked because she instantly became fully awake wondering why her mum wants her to back to sleep and kept on asking me if there was a holiday today😅.

Has this ever happened to you, waking up early and thinking it was late, and vice versa?

😅 that will indeed be a lovely sleep-in before school.
Yes it has happened to me twice before. Once as a teenager and another not quite long ago.
The first, I slept in the evening as I wasn't feeling myself then woke up at 7pm greeting everyone good morning, wondering why they were all awake.
And the other my mum and I were 1hour 15mins early for mass because we mistook 4am to be 5am.

Wow! 1:30 am😁

Hahaha, this happened to me when I was quite young, I slept very early that evening woke up at about 11 pm, and started greeting my parents and siblings good morning, they began to laugh only for me to check the time that it was even night and time to sleep again, it was hard to fall asleep so I began to watch the movie until a few hours later, I fell back at sleep.

Ha ha🤣🤣 so this is a common occurrence, I can so relate to that part where it becomes difficult to fall asleep after waking up from a long sleep at that time.

I have had this encounter so many times, where I wake up because I assume it was daybreak already, while it was not, and the best a person could do, when they wake up before the day is bright, is to go back to sleep, although the sleep would not come anymore.
Some lecturer's rules in their class are so big to follow up, imagine taking attendance for twenty marks, but I think, you shouldn't have gone to the class that day, you were having a runny stomach, you should have take the day out to check on yourself.

Where you not ashamed when he called you that nickname?

Oh yea I have seen from the comments above how common this happens to us, that sleep is just hard to get, I haven't slept since I woke up, I just went ahead to make a post out of it haha😂

I should have, I knew but I also didn't like getting lesser grade

Where you not ashamed when he called you that nickname?

I did at first but later grew tough skin didn't let it get to me anymore.
