Creative Sunday | I Made My Niece a Beautiful Silk Dress
It is another wonderful edition of the creative Sunday in the hive learners community, where we share our creative talents, and today, I would love to share the making process of the dress I made my niece over the week, it's a silk frock,
I had promised to make her a dress after making a shirt and shorts for her brother, which I shared a week back on Creative Sunday, she was jealous because I brought her brother's outfit but didn't come with hers, it was her brother's birthday and a gift him, but it's only fair for me to make her a new dress too, so there would be peace in the house, she is the little sister and you know how girls are, lol
Without further ado, let's get right into the making process of this beautiful dress.
Materials used are
- Silk fabric
- Thread
- Zipper
My sewing machine, scissors, and tape rule included.
Cutting and Sewing Process
- I started by cutting the bodice pattern of the upper side of the dress, which includes both front and back
- Next, I cut out the sleeves pattern, four pieces of it, two will be turned for each sleeve
- Continuing, I joined the front and back by the shoulders
- After Which I attached the sleeves to both armholes after gathering it, then I turned the upper side with its lining piece.
- For the lower part of this dress, I cut out a flare
fabric using the desired length while the radius was determined by multiplying her waist measurement by 2.5 inches.
- Finally, I gathered the strip by the waist and sewed the zipper to the back area, her dress is ready
I'm sure she would love her new dress. What do you think? Simple and cute right? Especially when she gets to adorn it.
