Happy Sunday Hivers

Hope you all are having a relaxing weekend, wishing everyone an excellent new week.

It's another beautiful edition of the Hive Learners Creative Sunday, and once again, I will be sharing with us a gift project I made for my Nephew who just clocked 6 years, the same age as my daughter. I'm mostly used to making girl's dresses, and I've regularly been accused of being partial preferring to glamour up the females while I leave the boys yearning for new outfits, not that I don't make boy's outfits too but it is not as often as I make dresses for the girls. So you can imagine the joy when I told my nephew I was making him a new outfit to celebrate his special day.

For this project, I had it in mind to buy an ankara fabric initially, but when I saw this indomitable fabric, with its anime characters, I knew my nephew would be more thrilled with this fabric than the conventional ankara fabric I intended to buy because he loves Indomie noodles, he is a foodie😅 and also stretchy,
One of his favorite cartoon characters was designed on it, and though buying this fabric cost more than I had planned, I was more than happy to be able to afford it for him.

Materials used

  • custom fabric
  • Buttons
  • Matching Threads
  • Elastic
  • Colar stay.

Cutting and Sewing Process

  • I started by drafting the front and back pattern of the shirt, the front is extended by 2.5 inches which will be used as the button and button hole placard.

  • Next, I joined them by the shoulder area

  • Continuing, I cut out the collar pattern pieces, turned, and joined them around the neckline.

  • Then, I cut out the sleeves, which is a basic short-sleeve pattern

  • I joined the sleeves to the shirt, also sewed the sides, and hemmed it the shirt is made.

Moving on to the short,

  • I cut out the pattern of the shorts, two pieces each for both front and back

*I joined them by the crotch area for both the front and by the sides before hemming the short. I also created an elastic casing for the waist area where I passed an elastic yo hold the waist firmly.

The shirt and short is ready, and he absolutely loves it. I think I will try to create more time for making boys outfits, and to think that it is easier to make their outfits compared to making girls' dresses.

To be honest I don't like yellow colour for clothes. Don't know why? That's the reason I don't have any yellow colour clothes. But I think kids like the color more. I hope your nephew will like it.

I also tend not to have a likeness for yellow outfits, don't know why, but this is a customized fabric, and yellow is kinda cool for kids.

Yeah, he absolutely loves his gift.

Made amazing art. Presented with each step-by-step stitch work with an excellent design. What color of clothes will the child like?
