A newly designed dress for my fashionable little friend, spreading joy in my own little way.

Happy New Month and a lovely week as well Hivers! And creative needleworkers.

It seems just like yesterday when we wished ourselves a happy new year, and now, we are already 4 months into the year 2024, we must be grateful for the gift of life and provision, despite life's challenges, know in your heart that all will be well, and worry less about things you have no control over, try your best to spread joy and happiness wherever you find yourself, and that's the only true way you become genuinely happy.

Talking about spreading joy, you don't have to wait till you become a very wealthy and influential person before you can be a source of happiness to someone, start from the little service you can render, share the little you have, we not only gain joy from all this, but we also lay good examples to others hopefully others replicate same act which would make the world a better place.

I've always let you my readers know through my blog how much I love designing beautiful dresses for children which makes me a favorite aunty in my neighborhood, I started a decluttering program last year, to always make a dress or outfit for someone out of the leftover fabrics I get after completing any outfit I make, some people tend to store these fabrics and end up thrashing them after a long while when they become too much to contain space, you can blame procrastination for this act, we seamstress are very fond of this, piling fabrics upon fabrics till we have no breathing space in our sewing room, but ever since I intentionally took this bold step it has help my sewing room a lot to stay clutter-free.

Today, I will be sharing with us the dress I made out of the leftover fabric from a previous dress I shared in this community last week, I had less than a yard of fabric left and decided to make my
my little friend a dress, she is about 10 years and a fashionable one, at her age, she can already give exact descriptions of styles she likes, whenever she visits me, especially when she sees someone wearing a dress she likes, she would come over to my place trying to describe the style and most times I understand her, so I decided to make her one of those styles she had liked and told me in recent times.

I combined the ankara fabric with a black crepe material, I started by drafting the upper side of the dress, it's one shoulder off

Then I went on to draft and cut out the lower part from the waistline, it has a Basque shape at the middle part

Next, cutting out about 12" length of the one-yard fabric into two places,

I gathered them at the basque base of the dress for both front and back,

Continuing, I joined the front and back dress by the sides and went on to cut out the sleeves, one is a full basic sleeve while the other is the off-shoulder sleeve.

And here is the final look of the dress.
