Selecting New Faces For Naira Notes; Honoring People Of Values And Impact.

(edited)

The process of choosing who appears on currency notes should reflect the values and aspirations of the people, as well as the impact and positive change they brought to Nigeria as whole.

I honestly didn't know that choosing anyone of my choice who could be the face of any of the Naira notes would be this challenging, I have been racking my brain for hours and couldn't conclude on something. I understand quite well that people who should be on the face of the currency are people who have done a tremendous job for the country, someone who has served the country as expected of them but it's hard to choose one person because behind every good they claim to have done, there is ten evil they have done that we aren't aware of.

I do like to say that I am not someone who enjoys discussing politics because the situation in my country annoys me a lot. Nigerians now live with the hope of having a better country someday and every time that we think we are closer to making the right about installing someone we will make the difference or give us the change we need, we find ourselves taking a huge step backwards and I don't blame the people because sometimes it's becomes very hard to differentiate evil from good because of how much evil pretend to be good just to win the heart of the masses.

After thinking about the prompt critically, I wouldn't support the change of faces on any of the Naira notes for different reasons. This is not because there aren't people who are fit to be on those notes but because of the things I mentioned below.

Firstly, I wouldn't want to put Nigerians through the stress of struggling to lay their hands on new notes like we experienced sometimes ago. It was a terrible time when we had to buy Naira despite living in the country and seriously, it still baffled how we found ourselves in that condition as a country.

Secondly, redesigning the note will be an opportunity for the government to embezzle the country's money because the last time I checked, CBN used more than the money printed to purchase materials for the new notes which doesn't make any sense.

Away from all I have mentioned above and in response to the prompt, I thought of two people whose faces wouldn't be bad on the Naira note but the life and service of one of them to the Nation was cut short by illness. I don't know much about him but his rule was fairly favorable to people in the country.

I don't know why it's happening but it has become a trend in Nigeria that the reign of a previous president is always better than the new one.

It's impossible to have a perfect leader because they can't meet the needs of everyone and as long as he or she isn't doing what favours a particular set of people, we think they don't fit to be a leader.

The late President Musa Yar'dua happens to be one of the people who have ruled the country and gave the people some comfort but his reign was disturbed by his illness and the citizens of Nigeria. Insecurity in the country rose to a different peak during his reign which is understandably one of the tactics opposers use to destroy people's administration.

Despite his health challenges and pressure from the citizens, he tried his best until he passed away. He left us in the hands of President Goodluck Jonathan who also did a great job of stabilizing things in the country and since the end of his reign, Nigeria hasn't experienced peace.

If my suggestion is taken, I will choose to have late President Musa Yar'dua and Goodluck Jonathan on the face of Naira notes. These people served the country diligently and I doubt if we will ever be leaders like them again even though they have their flaws as well.

I am in no way saying that their reign was perfect and like I mentioned earlier, there is no perfect leader but through their works, while holding power, we can tell that they tried their best. They deserve the honor and I best many Nigerians who hated them then would wish these two men could ascend power again.

Yeah it takes a lot to figure out who is best fit to appear on the currency but I do agree with your choices because ever since regime of this two we have been experiencing all sort of hardship in the country. So they deserve the honour.

It's indeed difficult to just choose someone because there are lots of people who fits into that place.

Ever since these people left, Nigeria has never been the same. We won't stop hoping for the best.

It is often difficult to agree with certain leaders, sometimes we disapprove of many of their actions and it turns out that those taken by their successors are actions that do more harm to the population. As for who should appear on a coin, that is a merit that is earned by the actions of the candidate and sometimes it is very difficult to choose because many have fought for the good of the people.

Our president successors in Nigeria are something else and we don't realize that until the new person start showing their true color.

You might not know the men I have mentioned but they did a great job. While they were here, we thought they weren't doing much until they left. Now, we are missing them.

I agree with you because that is what it should be. People of great impact should be honored not the other way round.

Choosing who fits such position and honour is not always a decision to make in a hurry, however these notable men did great job in the country despite how terrible things keep going currently. You know sometimes I feel like going back to the days good luck ruled us..there was more peace then with fair economy

Yaradua was the best thing to happen to Nigeria and some of his achievements are still benefiting us till today. Even his vice also ruled Nigeria with fairness and good intention in his heart, they were truly the best pair and deserve to be on our currency

Your position regarding money printing is interesting, from what we see in the text, you focus on having quality and improvements in your country, without corruption but seeking security and evolution.
