Love Beyond Time...

Jason's joy tripled as he watched Nina take those majestic steps on the red carpet. He always complimented Nina's beauty but at that moment, Jason was short of words to describe his bride.

The wedding guest gave Nina a standing ovation and it was easy to tell that the day would be one of the happiest days of her life.

He couldn't take his mind off the beauty approaching him and even when Nina had joined Jason on the podium, he didn't take his eyes off her for a second.

Nina stood in her radiant glory, adorned in a breathtaking wedding gown. She sparkled like crystal and Jason could see his future in her eyes.

"You look beautiful, I am so happy, right? I wish you could see through my heart," Jason whispered to Nina and could only smile.

Nina's eyes were filled with tears already and a blink would trigger them to gush out uncontrollably.

The lover locked eyes for a few seconds before the master of ceremony interrupted the visual romance.

"It looks like the couple's mind isn't here anymore, they are far away. Or am I wrong?" The MC asked the couple and the audience burst into laughter.

"This couple's journey always amazes me and I admire them a lot. A few people here would know that Jason is my childhood friend and seeing him take this big step means a lot to me," The MC added before going on with the programs.

"Dad, you never get tired of watching this video over and over again," Gabriel teased his dad.

"You will never understand the feeling until you get to that stage in life," Jason replied.

It's been forty years since Jason and Nina got married and they had three beautiful children together. About five years ago, Nina was diagnosed with a terminal illness and it claimed her life three years later. The incident was a sad one and Jason hadn't lived a normal life after.

"Dad, it's been years. Even mom wouldn't be happy seeing you this way," Amanda, his youngest daughter said as she squeezed herself into the space between Jason and Gabriel.

"Christmas used to be my best time of the year until Nina died. We met during the holidays back then and created a lot of memories together," Jason said to the kids as they paid attention to him.

That year, I felt down knowing that I would be celebrating Christmas alone since the only family I knew were late. I have uncles and aunts but they were in Nigeria, they weren't on good terms with my parents while they were alive so I didn't see any reason to mingle with them after my dad and mom passed away.

"Celebrating Christmas alone is boring, you know?" Jason asked the kids and they nodded signifying a yes.

I thought of what to do and finally chose to go on a vacation just to put all my worries behind me. My hometown in Nigeria crossed my heart so I packed my things immediately and went to the airport.

While at the airport, I saw this beautiful lady who was also travelling. Despite being shy, I approached her and said hello. She was jovial and full of life, she didn't talk to me like a stranger and my joy was boundless when I discovered she was going to Nigeria as well.

That trip was one of the best in my life and it was the beginning of our love story. We linked up in Nigeria again and went on several dates in the space of one month.

Your mom left Nigeria recently and she knew all the hot spots in the country so it was easy for us to navigate the country.

One evening while we were on a date, I went on my knees and asked her to be my wife.

"Wasn't that too quick?" Gabriel interrupted Jason's story.

"It wasn't quick. The holiday was ending and I had to ask her out or it might be late," Jason replied.

"That was so sweet of you, what was Mom's response" Amanda asked.

"Yes of course, what do you expect?" Gabriel replied and everyone burst into laughter immediately.

"She said yes and our journey began from there," Jason stuttered.

His eyes were filled with tears this time and he just stared at Nina's picture hanging on the wall.

"Mom is in a better place, Dad. We miss her just like you do," Amanda tried comforting him but he broke down completely and the kids couldn't resist the urge to cry as well.

Later that evening, the family decided to visit the cemetery and Jason felt the presence of Nina as they prayed for her soul. The family returned home late feeling better and they settled to celebrate Christmas in a small way.

You weave a beautiful Christmas memory in this story, @george-dee. You seamlessly take us back through time, to the moment when Jason and Nina first met. You take us to their wedding ceremony, and to the present, when Jason mourns the loss of his love. You bring warmth and family to your tale. The children help to make the story richer.

Thank you for sharing this Christmas love story with us, @george-dee.
