DIY/ Simple Indoor Phone Holder.
Today, I finally made a solution to the stress I go through just to hold my phone whenever I am watching a movie or streaming online.
Our smartphone can do a whole lot of things and many of us use it to watch different stuff at home. Just like many people, I have cable TV at home and due to the kind of subscription I do because of the outrageous fee they charge, I choose to stream football on my phone a lot.
I don't watch alone, my siblings are also football lovers so we enjoy it together a lot but I find it challenging to hold the phone for 90 minutes to watch a whole football match. Before now, I used to have a Bluetooth speaker with a phone holder and it was really helpful until it got broken.
I had the intention of buying another phone holder but I usually don't remember until I need to use it. So this morning, I wasn't feeling very great and decided to engage with craft hopefully, it will lift my spirit.
I gathered a few items which included, a plastic bottle, a carton, glue, scissors, pieces of Kampala fabric and cardboard.
If I had known it was easy to do this, I wouldn't have hesitated to make one a long time ago and even built one for people around me who once mentioned that they needed it.
I started by cutting a rectangular shape on the carton.
The carton wasn't strong so I cut out two and joined both with glue.
I took the plastic bottle and measured the size of the rectangular shape above on the bottle before cutting it.
The plastic bottle doesn't have to be the same width as the rectangular shape, this will serve as the phone backrest.
I also cut another rectangular shape but very small. I had to cut two and join them with glue as well, this will serve as the phone stopper.
After getting these three things, I went on to beautify them with the fabric before joining them together.
I covered the bottom of the rectangular carton with cardboard and the surface with fabric. I rubbed gum on both sides of the carton and just placed the cover on it.
I also wrapped the plastic bottle cut out with fabric after applying glue and folded the extra inside the plastic.
I wrapped the small rectangular shape as well with the fabric after applying gum on both surfaces
After using the fabric on everything, I coupled the parts together with glue.
I applied glue on the bottom of the plastic bottle and attached it to the rectangular shape.
I applied glue on the side of the small rectangular shape and placed it on the rectangular shape. Since it's serving as a stopper, it mustn't be far from the plastic bottle.
I left it for some minutes to allow it to dry before putting the phone on the holder to see if all the work made sense.
