Crafting Peace; My Symbol Of Tranquility.

Peace is not the absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means -Ronald Reagan

Many times I feel like the need for peace is underrated globally and not everyone is putting in their best to make the world a peaceful place for us all. The DIY theme for the January contest is peace and this prompted me to revisit some memories while growing up.

As a kid, a lot of things played in my head and one of them was becoming a military head just to restore peace but as I grew older, I realised that peace can't be achieved violently. It can't be forced and achieving has to be done voluntarily by every individual who values it.

I value peace a lot and urge people to do the same, it's impossible for us not to disagree among ourselves but there are ways to resolve it than embracing conflict over peace. Someone once asked me if I do get angry because she always sees me wearing a smile and I told her that my smile is a sign of peace, it means that I am at peace with myself and with everyone.

Instead of allowing things to result in conflict, I always choose the peaceful route. The world is filled with chaos around and I would want to add to it.

I found the theme very interesting and came up with an idea. A dove is a bird that signifies peace and that was all I could think of. I remember how villages at war send it to their adversaries in our local movies just to stop the conflict. This creature is beautiful and irresistible and it's indeed a perfect representation of peace for me.

Material used.

Wood
Eggshell
Carton

Cardboard
Pencil
Brown gum
Scissors
Nail polish.

  • I started by joining two pieces of flat wood together because I wanted it to be big enough for my craft.

  • I drew a dove and the cardboard and cut it out. I am sorry it doesn't look perfect and that was the best I could do with the drawing.

  • I cut the carton into pieces until it was enough for what I needed.

  • After achieving everything I mentioned above, I used white paper tape to hold the dove to the flat wood.

  • I applied the brown gum on the flat wood except on the dove and sprinkled the carton pieces on the plank until the whole part I applied the gum on was properly covered. I made sure that the carton pieces didn't stay on the dove to prevent any disturbance while finishing things up.

  • I left it to dry for some minutes.
  • I applied the brown gum on the dove as well and started placing the eggshell on it bit by bit until the dove cut-out was completely covered.

  • Finally, I applied the white nail polish on the eggshell only and the Dove appeared as it should.

  • I left it to dry and the outcome looked really good.

There is no doubt that the world would be much better if individuals and nations were at peace with one another. There won't be war or bloodshed because we will see other ways to handle our conflicts other than using guns and bombs.

I urge everyone to choose peace always, happy weekend everyone.

I love art but not really into it and whenever I have the opportunity to showcase my interest in it, I don't hesitate to do so.

I’m now imagining you as a military man ,hehe
Anyway this art is different from what I see.
I’m sure it required a lot of creativity.

Lolz military ke, I lost interest because government just use the force anyhow these days. They use them for dirty jobs not minding the negativity involved.

I am glad you like the artwork... Thanks dear.

La Chef George has done it again. You have broken another record in my eyes. This art piece is really unique, plus I like the dove bird as well.

Peace is what we all need but unfortunately this idea is not bought by everyone.

Happy weekend to you too
