Christmas Shopping Went Wrong.

The Christmas feeling is setting in and we are gradually getting into the holiday mood even though Christmas isn't what it used to be back then. Sometimes, I wonder if Santa stopped being generous because about a decade ago, the Christmas vibe would be hitting hard already but it's different probably just in my country because I don't know what things look like in other countries at the moment.

By this time of the year, there used to be lights, trees and decorations everywhere but there are only a few of them out there. I can't blame people for not setting these things up yet, we need to make more money than usual because the price of things is quite on the high side and celebrating the usual way requires more money.

I was browsing through my Christmas memories and I stumbled on a few funny ones which I love to share with you guys.

Back in those days, my mom usually got I and my siblings Christmas clothes as early as the first week of December. She never failed to get them because she doesn't like seeing us left out of the fun and feeling of the season. Immediately I became a teenager, I started feeling that it was improper for her to get clothes on my behalf because I wanted what was trending which she didn't know.

I told my mom about it and she agreed to always give me my Christmas dress money so I can get whatever I wanted for myself. That year, she gave me money according to what she had and I took some from my piggy bank because the money wouldn't be enough.

I wasn't inspired to go alone and luckily for me, one of my friends then wanted to get his Christmas dress too so we went to the market together.

It was my first time going to purchase something of such for myself so I was on the alert. I and my friend toured the market, we got a pair of three-quarter jeans and a designer Polo but I didn't see the exact design of the sneakers I wanted. He already got his sneakers so I suggested that we tour the market again and he agreed.

I needed something flashy and spectacular which I eventually got but it wasn't my exact size. My legs were big from childhood and I was tall so the majority of my things were of an adult size.

I told the seller that it wouldn't fit me immediately I saw the size but he told me that it would. He said I shouldn't mind the size written on the sneakers and he removed the pair for me to try.

My leg was dirty because of all the trekking so the seller got me a nylon/ polythene bag to wear on my leg before putting on the sneakers which was understandable. I did as told because I didn't want to dirty the white sneakers as well.

My Image

After putting on the nylon, I tried the sneakers and my foot entered easily even though it was a bit tight. The seller told me that the sneakers would expand after wearing it once so I thought it wasn't a bad idea.

I got the sneakers and went home happily intending to impress my mom. My mom was impressed with the dress but immediately she saw the sneakers, she said it was small but I told her it wasn't.

I wanted to try the sneakers and the unexpected happened. The same sneakers that my leg fitted into turned out to be very tight. I explained to my mom that I tried it with a nylon and she wouldn't stop laughing. She told me to get a nylon to try it and my leg entered it but it was tight.

Reality dawned on me that when you try footwear with a polythene bag, your leg can fit in if the size is a bit smaller than your leg size. I told her I would return it but she told me it would be a waste of time because the seller wouldn't take it from me.

I felt really bad and can't imagine not putting on a sneaker for Christmas. I tried selling it but didn't get a buyer and I eventually gave it to my brother.

Another experience I had was with a native fabric my mom got for me back then. Our tailor was an elderly man and his designs were old school so I decided to try a new person that year but guess what, it ended in tears.

The cloth was perfect but the thigh was kind of tight so I told the person who sewed it and he said it was normal because of the design I chose.

I didn't have a choice but to wear the clothes like that. After spending some time at home on Christmas, I decided to step out with my friends but my dress said no. The trouser ripped apart while on the bike and I had to return home.

I could have just worn something else but was too angry and didn't step out of the house throughout that day.

The price of things has escalated and people would rather buy what they really need than spending enormously on decorations.

Those market people are smart, it's either you buy or nothing; they don't take no for an answer.

The seller told me that the sneakers would expand after wearing it

It's a thing every shoe seller used to say but I don't believe their words and when they insist more I also say them my foot size will also increase with time😅😅. I give them a wired logic and state some reason behind it. I know I am lying and it's because they insist too much to buy small-size sneakers.
Hehe. It's one kind of revenge for insisting me too much. !LOL

I thought these things happen only here and I fell for the sellers trick all because I was new to buying those stuffs by myself.

I learned a good lesson that day and such hasn't happened to me since then.

Lolz, it's really annoying. I don't know why many of these seller play tricks on people just to make them patronize their store.

Christmas is different in all city's, likewise here, we do not have the decorations as it were in few years back. From the time you decided to be buying your christmas clothes by yourself, it shows the beginning of maturity, although you end up buying a small size shoes, but the person that sells the shoes for you didn't try at all, he knows quite well, the shoes was a small size but he still persuade you to buy it.
