Peace And Emotional Intelligence

avatar

I guard my internal peace with all seriousness because upon it lies my happiness. My definition of peace is when someone is happy with himself/herself and with others around him/her.
Whenever I see someone in a sad mood, I believe that he or she is not at peace with either himself or those around him. In furtherance of this belief, I see a strong relationship between peace and emotional intelligence. The latter is very important to the process of achieving the former. An emotionally intelligent person will take the consequences of his actions on the next person into consideration before taking any of such actions.

My recent experience with someone lacking emotional intelligence and resulting in anything but a peaceful human was with my landlady.
My husband and I parked into the compound some months ago and it took us just about two days to realize that we'd entered a house. On the second day of our stay, we went out to buy some perishable foodstuffs, and on inquiry by the seller about where we lived having noticed that we were new in town, I told her that we live in Hajia Barrister's house. The next statement from her was that if such a house was given to her rent-free, she would reject the offer. Our interaction for a few days made me realize that the landlady lacked emotional intelligence and that for her to be at peace with others was a mirage. She talks without considering the emotions of her listeners. The situation was very bad to the extent that she exchanged words with my husband at the peak of her hostility. It was at this point that I advised my husband to deploy the weapon of silence. Her subsequent vituperation was met with silence. The woman lacks emotional intelligence and as a result, she is not having any close relationship with peace.

If everyone is wary of how his or her words and actions would affect the person next to them, they would be kind with their words and actions.
Peace thrives in the presence of justice and fairness. For a society to be just, whoever is lacking in emotional intelligence to make peace with others is held responsible for the consequences of such. If you are peaceful with yourself, you have to be peaceful with others to make the world a better place to live.

Let's now discuss what gives me internal peace.

I love being in the midst of children, caring for them, and watching them grow into healthy human beings brings me peace of mind, and since the coming of my son, my inner peace whenever I see his handsome face is fascinating.
Finding myself on the beach where the wind is blowing steadily in appreciation of nature's gift. It allows me to think of what to improve on in the course of making peace with myself and others around me.

Peace is just priceless. Without the calmness that peace brings, you cannot be intelligent emotionally.

She talks without considering the emotions of her listeners.

Once I come across this part, I knew you have gone into the wrong place. Am really sorry. While you friends deal with her in silence, try to hold your peace. This kind of people can mess up an otherwise calm person. Ofcourse I dont see your family having a long future in that property.

If everyone is wary of how his or her words and actions would affect the person next to them, they would be kind with their words and actions.

I just wish, but sadly, many people speak before they think instead of the other way round.
We will continue to do our best in managing provative personalities. Wish you and your family the best

Thank you so much @fokusnow for your kind words.

It was a bit hard staying here but our rent will be due by February next year and we plan to pack into another accommodation.

This is not the kind of environment I will want to bring up my boy. !luv

Great news!!! I almost asked about that. Cant wait to see you friends leave such a toxic environment. And please dont repeat the mistake. Its always great to tactfully ask around, about a new place. Like nearby shop owners will always tell you more about a particular accommodation and its owner.

Yes, we will do better by asking people around this time to really get to know the kind of house we will be entering.
