His Weaning Journey ||| How We Planned It VS How Is Going

Greetings lovely Moms and Dads of the hive and to all my lovely hiver friends. I hope your week is going on beautifully. Welcome back to my blog while I share with you an exciting milestone of my son, his weaning process.

He decided to pull a surprise on us three days ago when he suddenly stopped having interest in taking his breast milk. At first, we thought he was just playing around but hour after hour he never showed any form of interest.

Even when I tried to breastfeed him, he would just shake his head, smile and continue playing.

Wow, could this be real? I asked, considering how much he loved breast milk.

The day went by, and he was so busy playing around. Then the night came, the time I feared most, will he be able to sleep through the night?

When it was his sleeping time, he only cried a little, I put him on my shoulder, and off he went to la la land. Hmmm, this is still all great😊.

At midnight, he woke up to breastfeed, but he ended up taking just a few sips and went back to sleep. Normally, he doesn't joke with his nighttime breastfeeding. He could suck for twenty to thirty minutes, none stopped before going back to sleep and he would wake at least three times at night to feed.

I knew right there the end had come for him to stop completely. How comforting the way things were going at that time.

The following morning, which happens to be yesterday, he had fed very well during the day and played a lot without remembering to even think about breast milk.

But when the night came, he changed his face and came at me furiously to take some sip. And that was the part where I said, Oh, no sorry baby, it is too late now, you made your decision yesterday when you decided not to take the milk.

It took me around twenty minutes to pacify him before he could sleep. During the night he had woken us up with a loud cry, I gave him his tea, but he rejected it and took just water instead and then went back to sleep.

And this morning when he woke up around 7 am, he followed me straight to the kitchen and refused to leave until I gave him some rice, which he ate plus his tea, and began to play. Hahaha, the power of weaning. Normally he does not eat in the morning until around 9 am.

So far today, he has been playing and is now back to bed for his morning nap. At the time of writing this post, I have to hurry up and bake his banana cake before he is awake.

Hubby and I had planned to wean him this January ending and by then he would have completed a year and four months but it seems like the little man decided to end it in his own time and term.

This was such a great relief for us, as I was nervous about how he would react when I decided to wean him.

He is one baby who loves breast milk very much. I had thought it would be very difficult to wean him but I'm glad and very happy with how things are going so far. I felt like the hard part was over, a brighter and lovely day ahead.

For my part, I had felt nervous about this whole weaning journey for months, knowing that a day like that would come and how challenging it can be for some kids and their moms going through this process.

So, I have been making lots of preparations for when this time comes, I got all his favorite foods like yogurt, milk, biscuits, fruits, and eggs. Also, there is a freshly fried pan banana cake that he loves so much and is always available for him.

More importantly, Hubby and I and some of our friends are here for him, to support him in every way as he passes through this process.

I'm feeding a lot of liquid meals, fruits, and vegetables to provide the necessary nutrients that my body needs.

Plus some homemade recipes a friend recommended that I would like to share with us later when the weaning process is over.

My friend also recommended I take around three pieces of cloves so that I don't feel headache or pains in my breast and I think it is helping a lot, even though it is very full to the extreme with milk it is not painful at all compared to other women I had witnessed weaning their kids.

More details about how I'm caring for my body and health during this period, I shall talk about in a future post, so please watch out🥰❤

Woooot 🤭, you are very lucky funshe
Your star boy does not want to give you any headache atall..that's a nice one from him...good that he shows interest on food unlike my baby who will cry and roll on the floor in search of a soured breast milk.. haha
Glad you aren't feeling pain in your breasts...I hope to read your journey about this as well
Warm hug to your charming prince

Thank you so much, sweet Mummy😊😊🥰 !LUV

If someone had told me he would leave the breast milk by himself I would have doubted it. He gave me a great opportunity three days ago and I grabbed it.
I used to think he would cry and roll on the ground as well, I'm just so lucky.

It's wonderful to see them eating solid foods and getting them off the breast. It reminded me of when my daughters did it, although my youngest daughter had a much harder time weaning from breastfeeding.

Weaning can be a bit tough for the kids and the mothers sometimes, I'm just glad mine is going smoothly, I was really nervous at the beginning.

Thank you for your comment, hugs, and love to you and your family. !LUV !HBIT
