Beautiful snowy mountains; Maiskogel, Kaprun, Austria
It had been years since I had been to Austria, but last Christmas holiday we went with the family to Kaprun, Austria for a skiing holiday. Since the children were born, we haven't really gone skiing until now.
I'll give you an impression of the views from the snow-capped mountains Kitzsteinhorn and the Maiskogl. There was almost no snow in the valleys, but there was enough when we went higher up with the different ski lifts and gondolas.
Kaprun is a small town with about 3000 inhabitants and lies at an altitude of 786 meters.
In winter Kaprun has way more inhabitants because of all the tourists that come over there to go skiing. The town is full of hotels and appartments in a traditional Austrian style as you can see in the photo.
In the background you can clearly see that only the mountain tops are covered in snow.
On one side of the town you have the Maiskogel. From there you can take the gondola up the mountain. As you can see it was a bit misty.
At the end of the gondola you can take another skilift that even takes you higher up the mountain.
This day we went through a thick layer of clouds.
When exiting the skilift we had a beautiful view over the foggy valley. Even the town wasn't visible anymore.
When skiing back down we came closer to the clouds again and had this stunning view. When we were above the clouds it was very nice and even quite warm in the sun. But we also had to go through the clouds again to get back down and that was quite cold.
Later in the day the fog cleared and it was also pleasant lower down the mountain where we had lunch.
We also went to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier a couple of days later, but I'll create another blogpost for that one.

Photographing is my passion. Although I like photography in general, nature photography is one of my favourite subjects. I often go out with my camera for a hike to capture the beauty of nature.
I would love to read what you think of my photos in the comments.

Thanks! I hope you are able to sometime!
It looks a very beautiful place although it is also a bit cold. It has been many years since I have visited a place with low temperatures.
By long ago I mean when I was 15 years old at the most, now I'm twice as old hahaha.
Thanks! It can be cold here in the Netherlands, but we don't have snowy mountains.
Very nice photos.
Nice rest.
The Alps are beautiful and majestic mountains.

It is really nice the effect created by the fog covering the valleys. The 5th photo is the one that I like most.
Thanks. That one if my personal favourite too.

Thanks a lot @ybanezkim26 and @pinmapple!
You're welcome!
Austria is in my bucket list of places to visit now, looks like you had a fun time. Our mountains to ski in North Carolina are tiny compared to those, I’m envious lol.
Thanks! We surely had a great time. The glacier goes up to 3K, so it's quite high!
