A #wednesdaywalk in the green
After having spent a three week holiday abroad we are back at home again. After three weeks of sun in Italy and France we're now back in the Netherlands where the weather forecast is a bit different 😒
But some rainy days don't knock me out of the field. There is always time to make a short #wednesdaywalk to #makemesmile
It never rains a whole day long. And today during my lunch break while working from home it was dry enough to go for a walk.
When walking to my favourite park I came across some blackberry bushes. I was surprised that there were still a lot. I think a lot of people still are on holiday. I picked a few and they tasted really delicious and sweet.
In the park where I go for a walk quite often there is a caste with a long driveway. The castle is used for conferences and serves as a hotel. The former stables are turned into a restaurant with a terrace.
At the start of the driveway is a fence with two nice pillars. On top of them is something what looks like a huge pot or something. Very nicely decorated.
The flowers on the forest floor have disappeared. From spring until summer there were a lot of flowers. The beautiful rhododendrons unfortunately also lost their flowers.
But the forest still looks green.
On some spots the nettles took over...
I also spotted these strange looking berries on a stick which I had never seen before.
It seem to be Arum maculatum according to wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arum_maculatum
It started drizzling a bit, but the ceiling of leaves kept me dry.
Even this ditch was green. It was completely covered with duckweed. It's funny that not all the ditches are covered. I think this has to do with the amount of sunshine that it gets.
This is another ditch in the park. The green here comes from the reflection of the branch in the water.
In the back of the park there is an old bridge that leads around the back of the castle.
It's quite a nice a nice castle. And again a very nice reflection in the water.
When I got back home I told my daughters I had found blackberries. They took some baskets and picked some.
And in the evening my oldest daughter decided to make a raspberry cake.
It not only looked, but also tasted delicious!
I hope you liked my #wednesdaywalk.

I think the duck weed on ponds is affected by not only the sun but by how much flow there is the river I think I read that sometime but not totally sure

Duckweed!! It brings me memories of some little lakes that were covered with them. Love to see it, though I also like the clear water, where we see the reflections! ;)
