“Water is the driving force of all nature.” — Leonardo da Vinci

While I was growing up, there were no easy access to pipeborne water, it was either well water or river water. Even at that, it was still difficult to get. Our neighbor's children, usually drink this green water from rainfall that has been in the reservoir for a very long time, toads and frogs were always found playing in this water, what about lizards and many more.

Do they care? All they knew was water could not kill anyone Truth be told, none of these kids ever fell sick instead, they were very agile in doing farming 👌 However, is it really good to take that type of water? Will you blame the innocent kids? If you are thirsty, you drink any water available. Water is life!

In some parts of Lagos State, having a good drink is difficult because some landlords have their boreholes beside the soakaway. So, if you are not careful enough, you will drink contaminated water. Ever since I started living in this rented apartment, we have never drunk the water because it's not safe. However, my neighbor has always been drinking this water. Then, I asked them why. Their response was, that they usually boil the water so that they can drink. After trying to discourage them, they still believe it's safe🤔

How important is water to our daily lives?

Water is life, water is a necessity, and water has no enemy.
If you must live, you must drink water.
If you must bathe, you must use water.
To wash clothes so you won't be stinking, you need water.
To cook, there must be water available.
No one can do without water.
Water has no limitation.

What tips can you offer us to make our water healthier, cleaner, and more affordable for everyone?

To consume the cleanest water and not just anyhow water. We all need to prioritize the following tips below 👇

  1. Check the water source and the quality, it is important to know the origin of the water you are about to consume. I see people taking sachet water but if you take your time to visit a sachet water factory, where the whole floor brings out moss and spirogyra or they don't wash their stores for years. There is no way the source of water coming out of that place can be pure.

  2. Get a water filter and water purifier, these two are important in removing impurities, chlorine, waterborne pathogens, and heavy metals from our water. It is helpful!

  3. Monitor your water regularly, there is a need we check the quality of our water by testing it for contaminants and pH levels and also share the knowledge with others to promote awareness of drinking good water.

  4. Educating one another, we need to educate one another to stop using harsh chemicals that can contaminate our water sources. We should avoid the re-use of water or plastic bottles. We should also try to imbibe the habit of washing our stores regularly to avoid germs and others.

~~We should not forget that, we are responsible for whatever we consume.

Thousands have lived without love, not one without water.” — W. H. Auden
