dCity State of the Union: An age of relative stability

avatar

As you all may know, I keep pretty busy. I am pleased to serve as your president of dCity, but lately I haven't been able to make too many posts. Its almost as if we have entered the 'boring period' of my reign. But I console myself when I remember that very few of the other presidents were all that good at making posts, so here we are.

First off, let's celebrate a powerful and growing electorate that, while not yet unstoppable, is consolidating power.

The consensus is that we want to stabilize the SIM price and keep printing low. Recently we have been at minimum print for a while, and I think this will be pretty bullish in the coming cycle - think about all the SIM we didn't print during this period.

Let's see how long it takes for a second party to form. There is plenty of Sim Power out there - its just not organized behind any other candidate or message. Fiscal Responsibility for the win!

Remember, dCity is run like a fund, and we are the stewards of this money for the next number of years, quite possibly more than you might think possible!

In a world where most development teams would have rugged long ago, or at least stopped developing without any hard feelings whatsoever, dCity game and team are shining examples - I feel so happy to still be participating in this deep and fun game along with them.

And truth be told, I've put my money where my mouth is. I believe this is the first time that I have risen to the top of the SIM:Swap.HIVE LP:

image.png

I joked that I have my retirement pension in SIM:Swap.HIVE LP, and maybe it is only a joke - but I don't really have any other pension so this will have to do! At 40%+ APR I think its doing a good job for me, at least until I find another spot to put it.

In the meantime, what is coming up for dCity? There are actually a number of new proposals that will likely get implemented soon:

Proposals 13, 14 and 15 - very interesting changes upcoming to the game. I am most excited about 15, this buyback will put about 60 HIVE per day into SIM buyback considering the current conditions. This could make real progress at perhaps creating a deflationary event that could set the game up even better for future gameplay cycles and perhaps even future adoption.

Proposal 14 would change ranking rewards to SIM + NFTs. This kind of moves in the opposite direction, but I think its a good move for the fund that will make the game last longer - which is one of the most important things.

Proposal 13 would make Vaccine one of the most interesting cards in the game. I don't think its too harsh, if you have 1000 sick citizens, you would lose 10, or 5 with a vaccine, putting the EV of Vaccine at 5x that of Sick Citizen. Maybe players think it is too soon to start this mechanic - we will see how long it is until gerber finally implements it.

Its more than just a game

I have written more than once about 'game within a game' or 4th dimensional gaming, but its worth saying once more, there are layers to this thing.

One of these layers for me is governance. Experimenting with coin voting is incredibly rewarding to me, and so its possible that this drives me more than just APR numbers. When players sell SIM, who does it go to? To the LP holders. To me.

If SIM becomes more valuable, and someone else decides they want to wield the levers of power - they can buy some SIM from the LP, from me. Basically anyone can govern, but it takes some amount of 'putting your money where your mouth is'.

The truth is, my iron grip on governance is quite tenuous - its a coalition of the willing 90 million Sim Power strong. We are willing to print less today to see what tomorrow may bring. We are enjoying to mine young citizens and immigrants, to train our students into economists and soldiers, experiment on our workers and print vaccines from our laboratories.

There is a robust market for citizens, and there are now dozens of types. The new hot thing is the Investor - check him out on the Auction tab. No more Executive producers, that promo is finalized.

I was just chatting with a member of our dCity cabal group about how the game has been a bit boring lately but, like everything else, it's just a phase we're going through at the moment. Keep it up Mr Prez-o-dent, ya !PIMP ya!
