PUTTING BEAUTIFUL PIECES TOGETHER FOR MY END OF SESSION PARTY... Simple yet classy.

Hello, needle lovers. It is the beginning of another beautiful week.

As someone who enjoys sewing most of her clothes, I have a habit of impulse buying when it comes to fabrics and also keeping leftover fabrics for long periods of time because I believe someday I can use them to make beautiful outfits.

Last week, I decided to make a dress for the end-of-session party at my workplace. I wanted to make something simple but beautiful, and fortunately for me, I had the exact fabric—a kampala—in my pile of leftovers and a plain navy blue chiffon material I got from one of my impulse purchases to replicate the particular style I wanted to sew—a simple circle flare gown with puff sleeves.

I combined a plain navy blue chiffon with a two-shade blue kampala fabric to make the dress.
First, I drafted the upper bodice on a pattern paper before cutting out the patterns on the Kampala and plain chiffon material. I combined the plain chiffon material with the kampala for the upper bodice.

For the lower bodice, I folded my plain chiffon material to cut out a circle flare. After folding it, I discovered it wasn't going to give me the length I wanted, so I decided to cut it out to a reasonable length. In order to get the desired length, I had to cut out a long straight fabric from the remaining plain chiffon, which I attached to the lower part of the flare. And for the sleeves, I used the plain chiffon to cut out a puff sleeve.

After bringing out the fittings for the upper bodice, I attached my puff sleeves and the lower bodice's flare. Fixing my zipper was the last thing I did before ironing my completely sewn dress.

I was happy I chose the style because it was simple, beautiful, and well fitted when I wore it.

I love your dress design, it's very beautiful, the color and how the fabrics combine look great on you.
I really understand compulsively buying fabrics hahaha whenever I go for fabrics I end up with extra things because I can't resist buying fabrics

Honestly it's always difficult to just see a beautiful fabric and walk away. Thank you 😊
