A bucket list, but of travel destinations

I love traveling. Surprisingly, as much as I love doing it, I can’t afford it cos the places I want to travel to have very expensive price tags attached to them.

In the mean time, I settle and make do with local tours and trips. But even with this, it’ll be arguable to say I’ve travelled much. That’s not what this post is about though. I’ll probably make another post talking about this in the future, but now, let’s talk about my “exotic😂” travel bucket list.

Norway

I’m not really a huge fan of Norway itself, but I want to go there because of thing - The Auroras.

I didn’t know what they called at first, but I think when I started seeing auroras (in movies) was somewhere when I was a serial cartoon-watching kid. I vaguely remember the first cartoon I saw an aurora in but it was this one where I think someone from a certain tribe got cursed or something like that, getting turned into a bear and…it had sigils and totems and all that stuff….oh dang. It appears I have almost completely forgotten it.

Anyways, from that movie onwards, I saw more of the aurora in movies like Moana, and every time I see them, I just think “beautiful”.

Honestly though, my friend @mar-ryam21 aprt of infected me with the whole love for auroras. I’m sure people on her WhatsApp are tired of her at this point for talking about them and posting them so much. I’m sure if she was active here right now and writing on this topic, Norway would’ve been number one her list because of the same reason.

I’ll admit that aside the Auroras, there’s probably nothing else I’ll want to do in Norway. I don’t even know much about Norway aside the fact that these beautiful beauties are there.I’ve come to understand that Norway is not the only place to find these though, so maybe I should change the focus of the point to the aurora and not Norway itself.

Rottenest Island

My TikTok for you page is flooded with wildlife documentaries voice overed by David Attenborough. This is what I spend most of my free time watching. I love learning all the weird animals out there I don’t know about. That was how I found out about Quokkas.

Rottenest Island is the home to Quokkas, which are large cute squirrel (or should I say beaver)-looking cuties. Interesting enough, they marsupials, so they use the pouch to carry their kids just like Kangaroos.

A dirty little secret I learned about them is that when they’re being hunted, they deliberately kick their joeys (a baby quokka is called a joey) out of the pouch and onto the ground to distract their hunters so they (mama quokka) can escape. In most of the articles I’ve read about them, they’re described as photogenic creatures because of how friendly they are towards tourists and their cameras. I can’t make a travel bucket list without making a stop to see these guys.

Niagara Falls

I don’t think I need to say much here. Like come on. It’s Niagara Falls. I am a huge fan of waterfalls, but I’ve never been to any. Niagara falls just happens to allegedly hold the falls with the largest volume and height record right now, so I’d definitely love to see that.

The North Sea

My wish to visit the North sea is actually crazy, because everything I’ve seen about it suggests “stay clear”. You’ll get what I mean if you’ve seen as many of those “Yo-ho, all hands” sound. The North sea has a reputation for being very violent and dangerous, and that just makes me want to see it more. Although, just thinking about being on the north sea scares the living shit out of me.

Mecca

Wrapping up with the most important, of course is Mecca. Mecca is a revered city most muslims are obliged to visit at least once in their lifetime if they can afford it. It’s holds a lot of sacred history, and the city is beautiful too.

There’s a little twist about my desire to go to mecca though. Even though I’d love to go, I specifically would love to go during the period of Hajj/pilgrimage where muslims all over the world converge at Mecca.

These are some good choices - but you can go to Finland and hang out with Taraz and see the aurora in the winter! It’s visible there and you could link up with a dude on hive!

Niagara Falls is actually not too far from where I’m living right now, in relative terms. I’ve never been though lol maybe we will take a drive over there sometime this year who knows. My son is old enough and he loves rivers and waterfalls so why not the biggest waterfall LOL

Hey man I was listening to a podcast today and there was a dude on there from Ghana! I was pretty excited to see it and immediately thought of you haha. Alma Ohene-Opare is his name - do you know who he is? He’s a great conservative speaker and I really like his ideas and delivery of them!

No man, haven't heard of this guy yet. He sounds like someone I should look up though, so I'll do that.

Man is just out here living the life. Haha enjoy, man. And please if you do visit, please tag me in a post:)

Oh man that would be really exciting! I'm currently looking into grad school outside Ghana and Finland is on my watchlist. Would be a sweat thing if I'm actually able to make it happen.
