CREATIVE SUNDAY-HOMEMADE DOUGHNUTS
Happy Sunday everyone, it’s another edition of the popular creative Sunday, I will be sharing with you guys a simple recipe of making doughnuts that you can solely try at home without breaking the bank.
• INGREDIENTS
• All purpose flour (3 cups)
• Butter (4 tablespoons )
• Sugar (half cup)
• Instant yeast (3 tablespoons )
• 1 and half cup of lukewarm milk
• half tsp salt (optional)
• 2 large eggs
• Melted chocolate (optional)
• Sprinkles (optional)
•STEP ONE
In a large bowl, add the flour, sugar, pinches of salt and mix, then set aside.
•STEP TWO
Put the 4 tbspoon of butter into a smaller bowl and double boil in hot water so that it can melt, then also pour the lukewarm liquid milk into a smaller bowl and add the yeast, then add little sugar and allow to to foam… this mixture is done to know if the yeast is still active or not.
•STEP THREE
Add the melted butter, eggs, and milk to the dry ingredients and mix very well, at the is point it gets very sticky, so you can add more flour to it and mix thoroughly, after mixing for a while, allow the dough to rest for about 45mins to 1hour, cover and put in a dark room, in this process the dough will begin to rise and triple in size.
Note
If the dough doesn’t rise then the yeast is bad and this would make the doughnut to not be soft and fluffy after frying.
•STEP FOUR
Spread a lot of flour on a flat surface and bring out the dough again and kneed with hands alittle, thereafter use rolling pin to spread and then use a doughnut cutter or any round cutter to cut it out, after this is done, cover and keep them in a dark place again to allow to double their size for about 30 mins.
•STEP FIVE
Put a medium amount of vegetable oil on high heat then put the dough batch by batch thereafter lower the heat and fry for few seconds on each side, to know that you did a good job, when you put the dough into hot oil, the dough floats on top of the oil.
•STEP SIX
After they must have cooled down , you can add some melted chocolate bars and add some sprinkles to it if you wish.
