BAKE A BIRTHDAY CAKE WITH ME// Creative Sunday

Hello guys, recently I started going for a baking class about two weeks ago, I have been baking plain cakes but here something I did during the week and I want you all to see.

INGREDIENTS

• Flour (750g)

• Butter ( 750)

• sugar (500g)

• 1 tin milk / 1 sachet of powdered milk flavor

• 16 eggs

• 2 tea spoon baking powder

• 1 and half teaspoon gelatine

• 2 sachet best cream

• fondant colors

• icing sugar

• strawberry and milk emulsion / vanilla flavor

STEP ONE

With a spoon measure the 750g of butter into a rubber and also measure the 500g of sugar and mix with either your hand mixer or electric stand mixer for 40mins to 1hour, as your mixing stop the mixer to scrape all the sides so as to make everything mix very well.

STEP TWO

In a clean bowl, add the sachet milk flavor, baking powder, gelatine for preservation and sieve baking flour into bowl, put on a measure scale to make sure it measures 750g, after that mix the dry ingredients to combine a bit then keep aside, bring out the butter and sugar mix then add your add half teaspoon of flavours each (vanilla and milk emulsion) to it, the add the 2 sachet best cream and mix to combine, after begin to add the flour little by little by and mix softly and also the eggs little by little and also mix, continue this process till the flour and eggs are finished, then lastly add the tin milk and mix the batter to combine everything together.

POV: check if the batter is too thick, you can add more eggs because eggs makes it fluffy and moist.

STEP THREE

I arranged my four my 8 round pans and used light to butter
to grease the pans so that it doesn’t affect the measurements of the butter, then I poured the batter into two of the pans and just before I pour into the remaining ones, I added straw emulsion to remaining one to give it a nice straw berry flavor and colour and took it to the oven.

POV please always turn on your oven on high heat for about 15mins before the batter goes, then lower the heat after the batter goes into the oven. Do not open the oven regularly, you can only open at least after like 50mins to 1hour, then you can use a small knife to check or a toothpick, if it comes clean or with a little stain then the cake is ready.

STEP 5

To make butter cream for the layering and covering of the cake, 1 kg of icing sugar and 800g of butter is mixed together with clean hands, hands is been used because I do not want to the mixture to very soft.

I dished the buttercream into 5 bowls because i was working on 5 different colors, after dishing I added fondant colors into the different colors to get my yellow, pink, blue, green and purple color.

STEP SIX

I put the layer of the vanilla cream cake then layered it with buttercream, then added the strawberry flavored cake and also layered with butter cream and continued like that, after that I made sure to use a bread knife to trim round the cake then used the butter cream to apply round the cake.

STEP SEVEN

I added the colorful buttercream to different piping bags, with cake on turn table, I started to press round the buttercream to cake, after that I used a smootler that was put in hot boiling water to smooth out the buttercream causing the colours to combine finely on the cake.

STEP EIGHT

I used a dough scrapper to give it the fine lines, the cartoon pictures were downloaded from the internet and printed out, and they were trimmed and placed on the cake, acrylic pearls and stars were thrown on the cake body, for final touches chocolate toppings was dropped on the cake, red and yellow fondant was used and carved out using plactic alphabets and number cutter. Lastly the green buttercream was put in a piping bag and a particular nozzle was also put inside to create the particular pattern of the green design.
