Mysteries of Benefactor Rewards and Author Rewards in LEO (and more mysteries)

I had been trying to solve some mysteries.

The terminologies such as Benefactor Reward and Author Rewards always confuse me, particularly in Leo Finance.

Let's solve the one on Author Reward.

Screenshot 20230228 at 9.59.14 PM.png

The above shows some incidences of Author rewards. I realized they are rewards for comments on a post when I followed the link. This is the link for one of the Author Reward above: https://leofinance.io/@cryptothesis/re-kenny-crane-rpbrd4

I was merely commenting and I get Author Rewards. Nice!

Then somewhere down my list of records I also see Benefactor Rewards like the following.

Screenshot 20230228 at 9.56.29 PM.png

Following the link, I learned that these are the rewards for the posts that I made: https://leofinance.io/@cryptothesis/a-laser-focused-way-to-use-threads-check-out-the-hiver-s-profile-page-on-the-alpha-site.

5.129 LEO sounds about right, i.e. 50% of the 10.26 LEO according to what is shown on my post.

Screenshot 20230228 at 10.05.23 PM.png

But, wait a minute!

Is there a double reward there? I can see two lines of Benefactor Reward of 5.129 LEO. Is that a case of error? Or we do get double the reward when the beneficiary was set to the same account?

To get to the bottom of this, I need to go back to my old records when I named cryptothesis2 as the beneficiary whenever I wrote my posts. Such as this post: https://leofinance.io/@cryptothesis/hive-moved-from-0-41-to-0-57-has-the-train-left

Screenshot 20230228 at 10.27.10 PM.png

On my cryptothesis2 account, there is a record of Benefactor reward of 1.455 LEO (50% of 2.91 LEO).

Screenshot 20230228 at 10.13.48 PM.png

Indeed, on my cryptothesis account, there is also one line showing Benefactor Reward of 1.455 LEO awarded for the same post.

Screenshot 20230228 at 10.16.36 PM.png

With this revelation, this mystery is solved.

We do get double the LEO when we set the beneficiary as our own account in Leo Finance.

This is pretty good!

I am curious about the reward system at the base layer now.

In the case of the Hive rewards for this post: https://leofinance.io/@cryptothesis/a-laser-focused-way-to-use-threads-check-out-the-hiver-s-profile-page-on-the-alpha-site, it earned me 5.07 Hive according to the indication on the PeakD site.

Screenshot 20230228 at 10.34.02 PM.png

Let me verify it on the Ecency front end.

Screenshot 20230228 at 10.46.06 PM.png

Wait a minute! What is going on here?

I see a Comment benefactor reward here, which is 11.011 HP. And also a Content Reward of 10.165 HBD?

More mysteries to solve for another day.

Do you have the answers?

With this crazy inflation (double rewards for the same post) it is no wonder why the LEO price is where it is.
I value more tokens with no inflation.

This is fascinating... double rewards. I still can't believe it's true.

At first I thought you may have Got reward from curation (curating other content) if you don't comment that often.. might be that reason but well as You solved it. I couldn't have done it.

Looking forward to see coming mystery.

I had trouble with LeoFinance early on. I struggled to get the proper permissions to stake the token as LEO Power, as it were. If I understand correctly, by making yourself your own benefactor, you receive double rewards... Surely, this is an oversight. I don't plan to exploit any device, but if this is the status quo, I hope I am not reprimanded for participating.

I make that comment in the light of some users discussing the nature of dtube, the account and the behaviors.

Ultimately, I'm concerned with the longevity of platforms developed here. Happy to admit that I enjoy notification of your posts as of late. Cheers

If it is an error, then it should probably get fixed but besides the slight LEO tax for not posting directly from LeoFinance should be the only one.

Can we also set our own account being the beneficiary account when we have only 1 account? Or do we need to have 2 accounts for that? !PIZZA

And maybe you referred already to the future "mysteries to solve" with it, but why do we see different rewards on the Leo Frontend than that we see in the Ecency front end? Shouldn't they be the same? !BBH
