Hello InformationWar platform! It's another day to bring to you happenings around Africa, Gambia precisely.

It's been tough for families who have lost one or two of their loved one's to the devastating medicine in Gambia.

By early August, 28 children had died, according to health ministry figures, a fatality rate of nearly 90 percent. Bittaye said that the number was much higher now.Source

In August, about 28 children died from kidney failure that's caused by a paracetamol syrup produced for children. The ministry of health said that this kind of sickness has multiple causation, but ongoing investigations have pointed towards a syrup that's consumed locally. Reports of whether paracetamol is investigated isn't ascertained yet, but it's believed that it's one of the causes of the kidney failure in Gambia.

Bittaye added that E. coli bacteria was also a possibility as heavy rains have caused flooding in The Gambia, and across much of West Africa, in recent weeks. The unpaved streets of the capital Banjul and surrounding towns have been overwhelmed.
The use of open pit latrines and open drinking wells in urban centres can lead to the contamination of drinking water and contribute to a spread in waterborne illnesses like E. coli, health workers said.Source

It's proper to loot at multiple causation in cases such as this, but I think since a leading role has been linked to the paracetamol, the should be sanctioned to stop the production of that particular syrup for the meantime in order to reduce the rate of casualties and to give preference to the investigations.

Remember that the wrong item that's causing the death in this particular paracetamol product could be as a result of negligence or human errors, but the truth is that no human life is worth taking even if it's a child and also ignorance or negligence isn't professional at all, which measure the true course of the law must be put into full consideration.

This will make me to call on International organizations and other private human rights organizations to take up the case to bring to book those that are responsible for the kidney failures that has led to the aforementioned numbers of death.

As at this point not much information about this case has been brought out to the public it's promised.

I'll conclude by saying that proper investigation should be conducted and all the parties involved should be properly investigated.

Thanks! Health is truly wealth.
