Today I decided to find out more about a subject that always seemed distant to me, which is the HBD stabilizer fund (HBDStabilizer). I have no intention of teaching anything new to the financial community, on the contrary: I intend to speak to lay people like me.

I'm writing because I was motivated after reading the report published by @dalz which I recommend you read too. Access the text here!

What is HBD

First we need to think that what we call HBD is a token, and like many others out there, it can be traded. Its value may rise or fall, depending on the demand for it. We can assume that the value of a token is linked to its utility. Sorry for simplifying concepts.

What differentiates HBD from other tokens out there is that it is intended to have its value linked to USD (dollar), the North American fiat currency. This is a pretension, a desire, a desire.

From what I understand, the HBD token could be side-by-side with the Hive token, but in practice this is not the case. Only the Hive token is listed on major exchanges. So in this concept, HIVE is the main token, and HBD comes with it, but is for restricted internal use of the Hive blockchain.

What is HBD for?

If HIVE is the main token, what would be the reason to keep a secondary token for internal use only? I believe that the simplest answer is the one I intend to give you.

In the image below we see the variation in the value of the HIVE token in relation to USDT. We can note the value 0.4027 that was reached on July 30th; and we can also see the value 0.2641 on September 11th. In the meantime, HIVE lost almost half its value.

This variation is natural and depends on the will of the market. The purple line on the graph stands out more due to its color, and gives us the feeling of rising and falling (even though it actually serves something else).

But with HBD, you want it to be different. If there were HBD listed on the Binance exchange, for example, we would see a practically horizontal line. Because for each HBD the value would correspond to one USDT, with minimal variation.

Imagine that you are an external user, logging into the Hive blockchain by purchasing cryptocurrency through an exchange. This way, if you purchased USD 10 worth of HIVE tokens on July 30th when the value of each HIVE was 0.4027, you would have received 24.83 HIVE.

Now you are inside HIVE and can trade your 24.83 HIVE for any other internal token, traded only on this blockchain. You decide to exchange your 24.83 HIVE for HBD, and realize that you receive, at the exchange rate of the day, around 10 HBD (disregarding the fees for educational reasons).

Time has passed, we are on September 11th, and you decide to sell your 10 HBD. At the market price, we know that HIVE was worth 0.2641. You sell your 10 HBD internally and receive 37.86 HIVE. Now at the exchange, you can sell your 37.86 HIVE and receive around 10 USDT!

Fantastic!

Even with the devaluation of the HIVE token, because you kept your asset in HBD, you didn't lose anything!

HBD intends to have its value always linked to 1 dollar, regardless of the variation in the value of HIVE.

What is HBDStabilizer

This is the name of a project that has been financed/supported by the Decentralized Hive Fund - DHF and its reason for existing is to act in the market, buying or selling HIVE, in order to force the value of the HBD to always be close to the value of a dollar.

There is a financial bot that makes purchases and sales in the domestic market. If the value of HBD rises, he sells. If the HBD value drops, he buys. _{(if I'm wrong, I'll be corrected in the comments)}

This graph shows us exactly how the work of the HBDStabilizer project helped keep the value of HBD close to one dollar. Since its performance in September 2021 (?), we have seen the graph drastically reduce its amplitude and move towards the pre-defined center (1 dollar).

Conclusion

I am convinced that the performance of the HBDStabilizer project was decisive in stabilizing the peaks / variation of the HBD token. I can say that, in my opinion, it was a success story.

The project has been very importantante to the Hive ecosystem, and now its demand for funds has been drastically reduced, limited to 24k per day. _{(Read more about this in the original post)}

In addition to the HBD protecting against market fluctuations, we also have to remember that the consensus of witnesses maintains a 20% annual income rate for those who keep their HBD in savings, paid monthly.

Hoje resolvei me informar melhor sobre um assunto que sempre me pareceu distante, que é o fundo estabilizador do HBD (HBDStabilizer). Não tenho nenhuma pretensão de ensinar algo novo para a comunidade financeira, pelo contrário: pretendo falar com os leigos como eu.

Estou escrevendo pois fiquei motivado após ler o relatório publicado por @dalz para o qual eu recomendo que você leia também. Acesse o texto aqui!

O que é HBD

Primeiro precisamos pensar que o que chamados de HBD é um token, e como outros tantos por ai, pode ser negociado. Seu valor pode subir ou descer, a depender da demanda por ele. Podemos supor que o valor de um token seja atrelado à sua utilidade. Perdão pela simplificação dos conceitos.

O que diferencia o HBD dos demais tokens por ai é que se pretende que o mesmo tenha seu valor atrelado ao USD (dollar), a moeda fiduciária norte americana. Isso é uma pretensão, uma vontade, um desejo.

Pelo que entendo, o token HBD poderia estar lado-a-lado com o token Hive, porém na prática não é assim. Apenas o token Hive está listado nas grandes corretoras. Então neste conceito, HIVE é o token principal, e o HBD vem junto a ele, porém sendo de uso interno restrito da blockchain Hive.

Para que serve HBD

Se HIVE é o token principal, qual seria o motivo de manter uma token secundário e de uso apenas interno? Acredito que a reposta mais simples seja a que pretendo lhe dar.

Na imagem abaixo vemos a variação do valor do token HIVE em relação ao USDT. Podemos notar o valor 0.4027 que foi atingido em 30 de julho; e também podemos ver o valor 0.2641 em 11 de setembro. Nesse meio tempo, HIVE perdeu quase metade de seu valor.

Essa variação é natural e depende da vontade do mercado. A linha roxa do gráfico se destaca mais pela cor, e nos dá a sensação de sobe e desce (ainda que ela sirva de fato para outra coisa).

Mas com o HBD, se deseja que seja diferente. Se houvesse HBD listado na corretora Binance, por exemplo, veríamos uma linha praticamente horizontal. Porque para cada HBD o valor corresponderia a um USDT, com uma mínima variação.

Imagine que você é um usuário externo, entrando na blockchain Hive através da compra de moeda cripto por uma corretora. Desta forma, se você comprou USD 10 em tokens HIVE, em 30 de julho quando o valor de cada HIVE era 0.4027, você teria recebido 24,83 HIVE.

Agora você está dentro da HIVE e pode negociar seus 24,83 HIVE por qualquer outro token interno, negociado apenas nesta blockchain. Você resolve trocar seus 24,83 HIVE por HBD, e percebe que recebe, pela cotação do dia, cerca de de 10 HBD (desprezando as taxas por motivos educacionais).

O tempo passou, estamos em 11 de setembro, e você resolve vender seus 10 HBD. Ao preço de mercado, sabemos que a HIVE valia 0.2641. Você vende internamente seus 10 HBD e recebe 37,86 HIVE. Agora na corretora, pode vender seus 37,86 HIVE e receber cerca de 10 USDT!

Mesmo com a desvalorização do token HIVE, por você ter mantido seu ativo em HBD, não perdeu nada!

O HBD pretende ter o seu valor sempre atrelado a 1 dollar, independente da variação do valor da HIVE.

O que é HBDStabilizer

Esse é o nome de um projeto que tem sido financiado / apoiado pelo Decentralized Hive Fund - DHF e tem sua razão de existir em atuar no mercado, comprando ou vendendo HIVE, de modo a forçar que o valor do HBD seja sempre próximo ao valor de um dollar.

Existe um bot financeiro que faz as compras e vendas no mercado interno. Se o valor do HBD sobe, ele vende. Se o valor do HBD desce, ele compra. _{(se eu estiver enganado, serei corrigido nos comentários)}

Esse gráfico nos mostra exatamente como a atuação do projeto HBDStabilizer ajudou a manter o valor do HBD próximo à um dollar. Desde sua atuação em setembro de 2021 (?), vemos o gráfico diminuir drasticamente sua amplitude e caminhar para o centro pré-definido (1 dollar).

Conclusão

Eu estou convencido que a atuação do projeto HBDStabilizer foi determinante para estabilizar os picos / variação do token HBD. Posso dizer que, no meu entendimento, foi um caso de sucesso.

O projeto tem sido muito importante para o ecossistema Hive, e agora tem sua demanda de fundos reduzida drasticamente, limitada à 24k por dia. _{(Leia mais sobre isso na postagem original)}

Além do HBD proteger contra variação do mercado, ainda temos que lembrar que o consenso das testemunhas mantém uma taxa de 20% anuais de rendimentos para quem mantem seu HBD em poupança, pagos mensalmente.
