A walk on the beach to start the year

Greysmar Beach, Los Caracas, Venezuela, January 2 2024

Hello, Hivers and Wednesday Walkers!

I hope everyone has had a great start to the year. I am still having a hard time starting the year by helping my son pack his bags to go back to college, but I'm very thankful for the three wonderful weeks we spent together.

Yesterday, in the very early morning, we took him to the airport for his trip back to Chicago. And hubby had the fantastic idea to tell me that since we were going to the airport so early we should take advantage of the opportunity and go spend the day at the beach instead of coming home with a crumpled heart. And so we did.

After saying goodbye to our son at the airport, we headed to Los Caracas to avoid the beaches closer to the airport, which would be more crowded as this week most people are on vacation. The drive is about an hour from the airport to the tip of Los Caracas.

On the way, we stop for empanadas.

Empanadas_2Enero2024.jpg

I ate a fish empanada that was crispy and delicious. And so as not to have any regrets, I told myself that from the next day on, which is today;), I am going back to my healthy habits rigorously.

We got to the beach early. We went to Greysmar Beach in the area of Los Caracas. It was about 9 a.m. and there was almost nobody there.

The day was perfect.

The husband took this panoramic picture as soon as we arrived and settled in one of the improvised awnings.

And since it was early and the sun wasn't too strong yet, after settling in, I decided to walk along the beach.

This was my view to the left.

But I decided to start my walk, going to my right where there was a barrier of rocks where the waves were breaking and where a couple of guys were fishing.

Just past the rocks, there is a small beach where one of the many creeks that come down from the mountain in this area of the coast.

The small beach was lonely and I couldn't resist the temptation to write a bit in the sand.

I walked to the end of the beach, where there was another barrier of rocks. These were hard to climb, so I didn't venture since I didn't have the right shoes, plus everything was lonely.

So I just walked along the small beach and enjoyed the sea on my feet.

I thought about taking a dip at this beach, but the sea bottom was full of rocks, and I wasn't wearing water shoes, so I just took some pictures.

As I approached back to the rock barrier, this is what the beach where we spent the day looked like. More people had already started to arrive.

At that time of the morning, the small river that flowed into the beach was not crowded, but later in the day, there were many families with children bathing there. The beach had a current and the waves were strong, so not very suitable for children.

Once I reached the area of the beach where we had our things, I walked in the other direction.

There were many spots available at that time, but later they were all full.

I made it to the other end where there was another rock barrier.

I climbed up on the rocks to take a picture of the coast on the other side.

Then I went back along the beach to the place where we had our things.

I spent the day relaxing, between sea bathing and resting. And pending on my son's trip on his long journey back to college.

A cold beer was a must.

On our way back, we stopped at a viewpoint to take some pictures of the beach.

There were still a lot of people on the beach in the afternoon when we started our way back.

From the lookout, we could see a nearby beach that looked more crowded, so we thought we chose right. I don't like crowded beaches.

We had a great day at the beach, perfect to recharge our batteries and get ready to get back to the routine.

From my own experience that I have children far from home, I know that it is not easy to see them preparing to leave, a lot of things go through our heads when helping them pack their bags.

A wise decision not to return straight home, dear friend @coquicoin, and to have a pleasant moment and relax the tension caused by seeing your son walk away when boarding the plane.

What a beautiful beach you have visited, the landscape is really very beautiful, what a unique sensation it is to walk barefoot on the sand, tasting an exquisite fish empanada and a very cold beer.

Thank you very much for sharing this beach walking experience

Have a happy and prosperous year

That's right my friend, @jlufer. So many things go through our heads at that moment but we have to be proud that they spread their wings and make their way in life.

Best wishes to you and your family this new year.

Abrazos!

What a nice post, what nice photos, how good that you decided to go to the sea when your son leaves, there is no better refuge. I also don't like crowded beaches so the one they chose is perfect. Greetings and happy new year 2024.

Saying farewell to your son is so hard I can relate to that many times over the yeas so I think your hubby had a great idea stopping at the beach afterward

Wishing you and years all the best for 2024 and Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)
