King's Day in Netherlands

King's Day is the national holiday in the Netherlands, celebrated every year on April 27th. It is the largest and most celebrated event in the country, and people of all ages participate in various activities throughout the day.

Originally known as Queen's Day, the holiday was first celebrated on August 31, 1885, in honor of the birthday of Queen Wilhelmina. After her abdication in 2013, the holiday was renamed King's Day, in honor of her son, King Willem-Alexander, who was born on April 27th.

On King's Day, the streets of the Netherlands are filled with orange, the national color of the country, as well as flags, music, and festivities. The traditional activity of the day is the vrijmarkt (free market), where people set up stalls to sell second-hand goods. This is a great opportunity for children to earn some pocket money by selling their toys, clothes, and other items they no longer need.

Throughout the day, there are also many other activities such as live music, street performances, and carnival rides. In the evening, the celebration continues with parties and concerts in many cities.
