SPICE ISLANDS.

I have looked through so many travel agency brochures this year just to get a feel of their end-of-the-year packages. I can't afford it though, I just had to look through it. Why look at what you can't afford? You might ask. It's not greed, but sometimes you just want to get lost in the world of daydreams.
Daydreaming about traveling to your dream location isn't so bad when you think of it. If only wishes were horses...

Lord knows I've worked so hard this year that I deserve an all-expense paid trip. Okay, so, as a mother of two hyperactive boys, there's no break whatsoever. Even on my days off from work, I end up seeing to the house chores and getting carried away by thoughts of how women with 3, 4, or more children cope. I mean, I only have two and they are mischievous as hell. For real though, mothers who have grown-up children should start authoring books on how they did it and managed to keep their sanity.

On the business end of things, I'm always on the clock to deliver a client's job, and of course, the kids will be in the way. I have to attend to the kids and get the job that pays me done. Somehow, I have to deliver on or before the deadline, I have a standard to keep.

I wake up at 5 am every day to cook and get my older son ready for school, and after all is said and done, I drop him off at school, before dashing to attend to my own business.

And then, there's his younger brother, a baby who's just starting to walk, nothing is off-limits to him. He scatters everything on his path and makes sure he frustrates you. What to do? This boy won't let me concentrate fully on work, so I got him enrolled in a daycare. Well, it turned out to be a bad idea. He beat almost every baby at his daycare, so, I had to take him out.

We recently moved out of the house we were living in for another place, and I haven't even finished unpacking. I'm sure you can picture how messy the house will be. It is funny how I used to be the neatest person I know, but now, I look at the state of the house in disarray and sometimes just want to burst into tears. I don't know if you can relate, but there's a feeling you get when you know doing a particular thing is necessary, but you can't do it because you are worn out.

So, I'm just going to pretend I'm daydreaming, if money wasn't an issue for my dream trip, the location I'd pick will definitely be Zanzibar. It's also known as the Spice Islands. I've heard really good things about the place, from the paradise-looking island to luxury accommodations, and a rich historical center.

All these have got me sold already and then I got a bonus piece of information, from a little birdie who told me that it is the perfect spot to find love, people from all walks of life come to visit. I know, it's meant to be a holiday, but I'm a hopeless romantic, lol.

And then, there's the spices. What has spices got to do with anything? Meh! Zanzibar is a famous tropical paradise that is synonymous with exotic spice markets and I'd just love to visit the origin of some of the spices I use. I'll just tilt my head back and inhale the beautiful smell. I can smell it already, it smells like freshness in the harmattan.

I'm a kitchen girl through and through. Cooking and experimenting with different spices is my hobby, and my family used to joke that being a cook is my hidden talent, and I should keep it hidden. Pay no heed to that, my cooking is not that bad, it's just that I love to experiment and it almost always turns out bad. I've had my moments too, I don't mind saying. It's all about celebrating your wins no matter how little they are right?

That minor challenge hasn't detered me though. I still love to try and mix new spices. I would love to visit the place that makes some of the wonderful spices I use to cook.

Another reason why I feel particularly drawn to Zanzibar is because it's an African country under the United Republic of Tanzania. I don't like straying far from my roots probably because I know I can't afford to travel far yet. There's only one way to be certain, I would travel round the world to confirm it when I'm able to afford it. Not just afford by the way, when I've made millions, I can see it in view already, lol.

It could also be because I'm African, Zanzibar is one of the top African locations to visit. Africa is rich in culture and it's dynamic, so I want to experience a part of Africa with a different cultural heritage from mine.

I would love to go for a relaxing vacation in a satisfying location that has African roots filled with peace and tranquility and Zanzibar is just that place for me at the moment.

Wait! Hold on! I almost forgot one other important factor, Zanzibar is fine, like so fine if it was man, I'll probably four kids by it already. Trust me, the pictures online don't even come close to capturing the essence of it's beauty. How would I know? I've never been there. True, but just pretend I'm on track. You just pretend I'm right and let that slide.

I'm yet to confirm this though, but a certain friend of mine that has been there told me the people are very hospitable and welcoming. You get treated like a friend as soon as you touch down. Talk about home away from home right? It remains to be seen.

Zanzee baby, I'll be with you as soon as I can, mwah!

I really enjoyed reading your blog, and the part where your youngest child was beating other babies at daycare😂
Your plans to visit Zanzibar is a good one. I pray you’ll get to visit there someday. With God all things are possible and also about your children, hand them over to God, he’ll raise them for you, I know it’s not easily but it’ll be easy for you. All you have to do is pray.
