Who is to be blamed? Government or the Citizens?

We blame the Government for the bad economy we are facing in the country but most of the hardship were caused by us the citizens.

We have selfish people doing business and inflating the prices of their goods, Imagine buying clothes for 6, 000 naira and selling them at 15, 000 naira in the name of making a profit, the same goes with other wears.

If you want to know if you have been overpaying for something, try to dress differently and visit a boutique or any other place that sell clothes, they tend to call lower price for those they think don't have much and triple the price for those they think have money, which is unfair because price ought to be fixed, not selling at a fair price for peter and robbing paul because you think he has money.

One thing about this is that whatever everyone does eventually goes back to them, some people raise the prices of their goods. Still, they will eventually need to buy something from other people who also up the price of their goods, and hence all the profits they think they made would be lost one way or the other.

Rather than making a lot of profits on other people's sweat, if everyone can be fair in their dealings, then the government tyranny won't affect the citizens that badly and things will be better than it is.

One day, I wanted to buy a shirt from one online vendor who is my coursemate, I showed her the shirt and she said it was 18k, I was shocked and asked her the last price, and she said because I am one of her customers that she won't call price for me, she would tell me the market price and I will add anything I feel like on it, so I asked her for the market price and she said 12k but still I didn't believe her that the cloth is that expensive.

I showed the cloth to another vendor and she called it 9k, imagine the difference and the trick she wanted to play on me, If I had trusted her, I would have paid 12k and also added like 1k or 2k thinking that it was her profit, this is not her first time of raising price for me that I would need to haggle. So I just decided to cancel her since she decided not to be honest in her dealings.

People prefer to make 10 000 on one person than making that on 5 people which could make that 5 people bring more customers for them. I don't just get why people don't get that being honest with your customers is one of the ways to be successful in your business.

We blame the government too much but in sincerity, we are out own problems. This tripling price has become a norm. I was scrolling online and saw this vendor that sells hair. She was on sales.

According to the description, for example, Former price: 135k. Sales price: 95k. Just check the price gap. In my head, I was like, why was she robbing people of 40k. It's just crazy especially with mutual friends.

Even the vendor who mentioned 9k still would make some good gain but compared to the first vendor, it's fairer. But if you check it through, it can be a complex situation. On one hand, when you sell at low price, some people would ignore you and think of your wares as of low quality and vice versa. You can't always be sure with these things.

Except an item is scarce or i am too lazy to drop by a market, I rather vidit loval stores. I don't see why vendors do the hike. But then, it's said that there's a market for everyone.

this is something a seller I know said, which is right, some people do this but then they should discern those kinds of customers, in my case, this particular girl just wanted to use me party in December xd

I think government officials should work harder to create price controls that vendors should stick to. The price different between the same product is just too much. People are overpaying for things that are relatively very cheap.

it is just annoying. yea if there could be a fixed price for almost everything, it will be nice

Ahh ! So there is no Super market chain there?
These practices make room for these big departmental stores and then these local vendors cry.

there is a supermarket that comes with a fixed price but you know not everything one needs to go to the supermarket for...

Later they will say people don't price things in supermarket but will haggle when it comes to street seller and the reason is obvious, some street sellers also over price their goods

In as much as we blame the government, 50% of the blame should be giving to us, it is a 50/50 blame😄 We are our own problem, everybody wants to cash out quick of which it is not supposed to so.

But that your coursemate sha😂 she wanted to use you and cash out, it was a good thing you could ask the price elsewhere.

I think everyone is responsible for it but if citizen are aware done the price of product can't rise up without any valid reason.

By the way, in case of business there is no relatives because profit is the only thing which matters 😅.

yea but the citizens into business are the one making it more costly.

this is not about profits but trying to make more than the necessary profit is greed
