Some of my childhood memories

Flash back to the past made me realize life is short...

I could remember there was a time i was being bathed and can't really do most things on my own except they help me....

I was born in an urban area and was already getting used to the life style, you know playing with other fellow kids...

I remember the memory of me and my friends with just pants rolling tyre on the street, there is this mosque in front of the house with a pillar and we do spin round it often cos we love the way it makes us feel dizzy...

I had 3 childhood friends then and i was loving the life i was living building castle made of sand with them but suddenly things changed..

We all know how people work in the city and end up buying lands in a very rural area because it is cheap and erect a building there for future purpose, my dad also did that but i won't call it a rural area, i call it a forest!....

image.png

My sister and i were asked told to live in the forest till they are ready to join us in few years time due to their work and she agreed and me the baby of the house doesn't even have any say , no one asked me if i want to live in the forest! oh well i was just 5/6 years old so my say does not really matter....

Luckily we had one house beside us which makes it just the two houses in the whole street!, my sister was awaiting her admission into the university and the little me was still just going to primary class...

It was like two children being asked to live alone in the forest, even though she was older and matured but we know girls are not that brave and the one that supposed to be brave is still but a child lol.... So anytime from 4 p.m in the evening, we have locked all doors and already set to sleep and if the sun didn't appear in the morning, we don't come out of the house....

There were so many wild animals around because it is us that came to disturb their peace, that was their home...

image.png

I was opportune to see some animals like chameleon, fox, crocodile, monkeys, alligator but most especially snakes!

Dang i have so many escapades with snakes while growing up, is it the time a long snake crawl passed my leg while i was going on the street or the day i saw a lot of snakes in a big hole, i mean a whole lot of snakes! i felt like vomiting that day and their sight was scary!

image.png

The one that would always be fresh in my memory was years after [ like 6 to 7 years] my sis got admission into a school and my mum came over to stay with me, there was this big snake that lives in a grave just at the back of my house and this path is a short cut to the next street.. It would take us 10 minutes if we take the long route but this path is just 2 minutes so i love taking that route...

The moment i saw that a big snake lives in the grave because i saw it crawling in when it notice someone coming, fear gripped me and i stopped passing there but sometimes laziness do make me get rid of the fear and i pass there but always at high speed while running...

image.png

On this fateful day, i was going back home and when i got to that place, i took off my slippers as usual and wanted to run pass the path, unfortunately for me, the big snake was on the damn road! i saw it right in front of me, i could not turn back because if i attempt to do that i will end up right in front of the snake so the only option was to turn to usain bolt and jump over the snake which was exactly what i did....

Dang i thought it was the end for me that day but luckily the snake didn't bite me or attack me or anything and even when i got to the far end of the route, i looked back but the snake was gone as well, since then i avoided that route like a plague, once bitten twice shy....I may not be that lucky another time lol.......

but if living in a village is more exciting than living in a city, in my opinion it's like that because in the village there are so many games that we get, especially friends' problems, it's really fun to play, success is always for you

village is different from forest, there were not many kids around during that time.. it was just me and my sis and next house neighbour and we were always indoor

thanks man, success is for all of us

This time you be like, "oh God let your angels carry thy servant in their wings"

As I said in my post, memories don't lie, we just need to make the most out of the time now because shortly it will become memories.

I also played with true too.

Thanks for sharing your memories with us, yesterdays forest should be a city now.

You were brave to jump over the snake o 😬😬 You were really lucky. This made me remember those times we would always kill snake in our area because it was flooded with bush before everything came to be civilized. My mom would beg those people to give her the snake and she would roast and cook it. Snake meat is always sweet 😅😅

But I can't stand a place where I know there are dangerous animals there. It would be better for me to pass the long route than risking my life to the short route.

i have never tasted a snake before though, they killed one in my neighbor's house and they roasted it and gave some to my dad, which he ate but nah nah, i can't eat something like that, even monkeys i can't ...... so you ate the snake too?

I ate it once in my teenage years but since then, it´s something I detest even now. Do you eat it?

I just don´t like it. This is one reason I don´t buy food from local canteens here in ondo for the fear that I might be served dog meat without knowing. Lol

you are trully living in nigeria lol, the one i read in a newspaper was about a man who was selling vultures meat as suya meat for people, since then i stop buying suya because i am not even sure the meat they use to prepare it, some said cow and some said it is bush meat lol

I am always afraid of these abokis selling suya oo because my thought would be that they used dead meat or forbidden meat I shouldn´t take at all. The day I saw one aboki cutting suya and mistakenly cuts his hand, I have been scared of buying suya. I cannot come and kill myself oo 😂

You jumped over a snake! You were not scared it would rear it's head and think of your flight as attack?.. wow.

The place your parents bought the house must be developed now, isn't it?

it is either i jumped or stop right in front of the snake, if you were the one, what would you have done?

One of my greatest memories is snake, it is a phobia created by anaconda movies😅. I don't dare go near snakes, the thought of it creeps me out

You were really brave to jump over it, that is something I will never find myself doing, Naaaaa never😅.

I had a similar experience too, it seems like a normal thing when people that once lived in urban areas decide to buy land and properties in rural areas or developing sites. Well in my own case my parent came along with me and my brother. Apart from snakes, I saw the weirdest monkeys those creatures are very mean 😅😅😅.

Thanks for sharing

lol actually i think you would do the same thing i did, when humans are close to death, we develop super natural powers, we tend to do things we can't do on a normal day like climbing high fence , the survival instinct get activated in us....

and yea it is due to the cost of things in rural area and we all know rural area also will later develop, so they actually made a wise choice just that there is a price to pay and that is with the wild creatures lol

Woahoo, that means you must be a really good runner oo, because that environment was your rehearsal ground every day, lolz. I'm happy you survived that childhood experience oo, me I don't think I will ever go home if I'm the only one going 😢😅, I can fear snake sha 😃

Am sure you will be laughing remembering that your friend play with pant on the street
Childhood memory is the best because as a child we don't have anything on our minds we just want to play and have fun

it is indeed funny😁, children are the best, no malice, fight now and within 20 minutes we are already playing again lol
